Manure's monster Adidas deal

Manchester United plc (NYSE:MANU) has reached a ten-year agreement with adidas for a global technical sponsorship and dual branded licensing deal for a minimum guarantee of GBP 750 million, subject to certain adjustments, beginning with the 2015/2016 campaign.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Club-News/2014/Jul/Manchester-United-plc-reaches-agreement-with-adidas.aspx?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=ManUtd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Featu ... ign=ManUtd</a>

£75 mil a year from the 15/16 season on; combined with the Chevrolet fee that's about £130 mil a year, just from the kit. Insane. By comparison: Real's deal is about half of that. As is ours. They'll be able to blow everyone out of the water financially.

Fact is that their massive success has made them a global brand.

So for first four years of that theyll make at least 45 m more than us, just for the kit. Is their chevy deal final/accurate? Thats potentially. 100m more than us. THATS 200 m combined, expecting city's next to be 150m + 260m.

And we cant even cry ffp with that. Faith in humanity: down 75%

P.S **** you adidas. ****

As I said in another thread, they're probably forfeiting the usual % that comes with the rights and instead opted to take a lump sum.

Yeah, apparently the deal includes all rights and licensing (read profits) from f.i. worldwide stores to name just one thing going to Adidas, which would set it apart from just about all the other kit deals in world football.

Still a huge deal though.

People on Twitter are already turning on Gazidis for our "****" Puma deal. Brilliant.

Adidas are really taking over the football world aren't they?

They now supply the biggest clubs in each of the three biggest leagues, Real Madrid, Bayern & United, and are apparently taking over at Juventus, the biggest Italian club, next year too. Add to that the most successful international teams, Spain, Germany etc, Nike seem to be getting left behind a little.

They've always been ahead of the game on this sort of stuff.

I don't think it has anything to do with how Man Utd went about getting this sponsorship tbh, unless you thought appointing Moyes and getting 7th place was part of the plan. The other side of it is Nike opted out. It's all about Adidas, and it's a speculative punt on their half--a punt Nike weren't willing to take on that scale.

Clubs are brands in the modern world. United have done well building a world class brand on the heels of the success Fergie got them. It's withstood the Glaziers and Moyes. There is a lesson here for Arsenal and Kroenke. A winning club is a financial asset. You cant build the kind of value united have without the league titles that support it.

10 year deal. Ours is only 5, at which point we will negotiate a new, better deal (not necessarily bigger than theirs, but than our current one).

They sponsor the entirety of MLS as well.

Wow. Congratulation to United, really is a mammoth deal.

This is a prime example of success breeding success; at least they're generating the income themselves through years of dominance and globalization of their brand - unlike the oil clubs.

This ensures they'll always have massive pull...It's ironic that off the back of their worst season they end up having a better summer than every other club.

Won't be long before they're offering their backup GK's 200k per week.

Hopefully they'll keep wasting their money on dross like fellaini, overpaying for guys like Herrera and throwing huge wages at shrek.

Sickening deal. Fair play to them for actually having put themselves in a position to earn that kind of money unlike chelsea and city who just lucked out.

Massive deal for them

I'm happy with our deal, we're in line with barca, chelsea and real madrid after not doing much for 9 years. I suspect that chelsea and madrid will want a big boost now seeing this deal :)

Idont think long term deals like 10 years are a good idea the market could radically change in 3 years time making current deals look puny, we learnt from our emirates deals.
