parlour - bag of chips

You better take that back!

Unless it's a real expensive bag of chips!

And if someone offered 25 million for Pires I would accept without doubt. He is good but no one would even pay 15 million for a player his age. I'm not saying he's not important, but you could easily find a replacement for that much money.

Other teams consider Vieira, Henry and Campbell as our biggest priced assets (20 million+). Kolo and Cole could be joining the group.

Pires's price now that he is 30 would not be over 10-12 million (unless you are Chelsea).

Vieira and Henry, arguably the best players in the world in their positions, are priceless.

Campbell would probably command a fee of over 10 million, while in two or three years time I reckon that Kolo will be rated as one of the best defenders in the world and his price will go up and up.

Players like Pires, who are approaching the end of their careers would not be so expensive. For example, if we were to sell Bobby at the end of the season, I doubt we could get more than 10 million for him.

Freddie would probably cost about 6 or 7 mill, while Lauren would maybe be 4 0r 5 due to his versatility. In my opinion, Gilberto would be less than Edu, with Silva maybe 5 million and Edu 6.

Wiltord on form is an excellent player, who would demand a fee of up to 10 million, if he was consistent. But his form is so sporadic that the most we could ever get for him is probably 6 million.

As for Ashley and Parlour, in my opinion, neither of these have a market value cos I reckon they will both remain at arsenal for their entire careers. Ash is definitely worth at least 10 mill though, while Ray, at his age, would probably only get 3 or 4 million.

Young talent such as Ali might command a fee of up to 4 or 5 million at the moment, but this will go up as he gains experience and proves himself.

It is all dependent on what a club needs rather than market value.

Some players are just very good players and can command a lot of money while others can't while some players are difficult to fit elsewhere.

The truth is there is no such thing as a general "market value". There are so many variables that it is hard to discuss potential fees.
