Arsenal scouts watching Argentinian striker – called Suarez!

It is being reported this morning that the Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger is looking for his very own Suarez, but not the controversial one playing for Liverpool!

The Express says that Arsenal scouts were at the Anderlecht v Lokomotiv Moscow match in the Europa League last night for a look at the 23 year-old Argentinian striker Matias Suarez who plays for the Belgian giants.

Suarez got on the scoresheet as Anderlecht won 5-3 to ensure that they ended up winners of Group L, and the hitman has gradually improved in his four years in Belgium. After scoring 10 goals last season, Suarez has already hit 12 goals in 25 games this time around and is stronger and fitter and may be ready to move on to a stronger League.

Wenger has already admitted that he will buy a new striker if an “opportunity” comes along at a good price, perhaps he may have uncovered another gem over in Belgium?

Brilliant goal from Matias Suarez

Very good stats as well
6 Games - 7 Goals and 2 Assist in Europa League
And 23Games - 13 Goals and 8 Assists in all comps

I am getting the same feeling I got from Kos transfer when we were first linked with him
He can play as a forward but is equally at home in the wings, his contract is expiring in 2013, he's maturing and has become a consistent player, he scores and assists, Will command very low wages & fees and he has European experience

Anderletch want to take Wellington on loan in January and I can see wenger using him as a part of the deal to smooth the transaction through.

Re: Matias Suarez

So this is the part of the Wenger Transfer cycle where we get a fair few posts stating the general view that we have never heard of him. Oh and that we should be going for Podolski/Benzema/etc. Soon to come the delusion clouding all of us that he is the next big thing, despite a minute few having seen the lad. Then later the bitterness when he joins someone else because we wouldn't offer the extra pound for his train fare here.

I have to say though JM that like yourself I've already bypassed the first stage and have a good feeling about this one.

Re: Matias Suarez

If you're an Arsenal fan then you have to give credence to this, it will be stupid not to considering our history in the market
Santos, Park, Kos, Arteta and Per are the recent testament to this.

And there's nothing wrong with this if it turns out to be a good buy. I have a lot of trust in wenger's signings even this summer his buys have been absolutely perfect. SO if he buys this guy then I am absolutely behind this guy

I'd not heard of this guy before but cheers for providing the links, he looks like a player to keep a close eye on. Some really amazing goals in there.

Just because Wenger has bought low-profile players like Koscielny, doesn't mean we should be treating every link to a random player with credence.

He's Argentine and Inter really need a young striker. Alvarez situation all over again.

Re: Matias Suarez

Is it too much to ask for a proven player once in a while?

Not the kind of signing that will convince me we have adequate cover for RVP, and while he may come good and make me eat my words its still too much of a gamble for a season like this one.

They already got 2 quality strikers under the age of 24 in Castaignos and Zarate. We were linked with him, and I think Castaignos would have been bang on perfect for us.

Strong rumours going round that we've bid for this guy.

According to @JavierPerez108, Arsenal has made a firm offer for Matias Suarez, who's been terrific for Anderlecht in Europe this season.
Does anyone know if there will be any issues with a work permit?

Re: Matias Suarez

I like what I'm reading about him. 6'0, decent build, 23 years old, European experience on the back of a great season with Anderlecht.

Here's a decent comp:

His build and movement remind me of Batistuta.

Previous season he was on the bench. Certainly not good enough to make a direct impact.

Re: Matias Suarez

**** it. It's more concrete than Podolski, so I'll allow myself an inch of intrigue.

This vid is cool: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5ZJLWPxzwU&feature=youtu.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5ZJLWPx ... e=youtu.be</a>

Re: Matias Suarez

Apparently he can play all across the front line. I'm sure that was a really important factor in our scouting decision, as we'll no doubt need cover for our wide men.
