Wayne Bridge to City almost a done deal.

Incredible. 12m for Bridge. Even in this financial crisis times. Mancity is spoiling everyone prices

But I guess the point with this is, that the pound sterling (£) has dropped in value compared to foreign currency (Abu Dhabi's money for example).

Bridge is a great LB, he's wasted sitting on a bench. Not worth 12 granted, but I'm happy to see him getting some first team football.

i'd pay 5 million max for bridge.

on a separate note, seems like man utd have wrapped up zoran tosic and adem ljajic.

not sure why they still need a new winger. and he's not exactly one for the future either seeing as he's already 21 and wearing the number 14 jersey

I reckon since Giggs is retiring he will give competition to Nani. But 17m for him...hmmmm

Unlike our manager, Fungus actually takes injuries/squad size into consideration.

I agree. I don't care about the pound or the inflated prices especially for English players, 12 million (if that's what it is) for Bridge is insanity. They're welcome to him for that or any other price.

The annoying part is they just equipped Chelsea with enough money to buy another attacking player.

Well its begun already, barely into January and already City are lining up a bid of insanity money for Barca's Eto'o, no guessing which team will be stealing all the headlines this month, less of the media laying into us i guess, dont worry its only £60 mil.

I was thinking about that just now when I read that suddenly Chelsea is linked with Zhirkov. Hughes is a idiot. With his cash he could go for far better European players.

But Ljajic is young, so maybe only minimal compensation or at most 3/4m?

To be honest, if Man City keep this up I'm going to hate them as much as I hate Chelsea.

Ranieri 'agrees to Diego move' Friday 2 January, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are reports in the peninsula that Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri has given the green light for a swoop for Werder Bremen midfielder Diego.

The Old Lady are expected to strengthen their squad in 2009 with an eye to challenging for the Scudetto and European glory.

Brazilian ace Diego has long been a target for the Bianconeri directors and provisional approaches have been made.

However, until now there have been suggestions that Ranieri would stand in the way of the transfer.

The addition of Diego could force Ranieri to change his formation - a move he seemed unwilling to make.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ranieri is now willing to make that sacrifice in order to add Diego to the ranks.

Sporting director Alessio Secco is said to be in Bremen to agree a contract and a fee, which is expected to be under £18m.

One obstacle to a transfer is that Diego is under contract until 2011 and Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are watching him.

But if Juve really see Diego as a possible heir to Pavel Nedved's throne, they will be less reluctant to make a big investment.

Arsenal Quotes

When I first came to Arsenal, I realised the back four were all university graduates in the art of defending. As for Tony Adams, I consider him to be a doctor of defence. He is simply outstanding.
