Scott Parker to City - experienced tough tackling midfielder, hungry to step back up into a team that really wants to win trophies after Chelsea ruined the development of his career, fee will be small as West Ham are desperate to sell...think we missed a trick (i personally think Ireland is unlikely to be transfered).

Olic confirmed to be Bayern's player come summer!
Hmm. Podolski will be off then surely?
They said to let Olic join Bayern now if Bayern let them have Podolski. Bayern said it's up to Podolski.
Both team are doing their preparation period in Dubai one near another.

12m for Bridge. Absolutely ridiculous.

Why are Sp**s after Downing? Bloody hell, he's so average. Not surprised they are trying to sign Defoe back though, he's a good striker. Doubt they'll be able to keep all their strikers happy though.

I like Podolski, he's got a lot of talent. I think he'll make it in the Premiership no problem. I'd like to see him come over here.

apparently defoe is going back to Sp**s for 15m, less than a year after he was sold to pompey for 7.5m. what a bunch of buffoons... nice bit of business by pompey.

According to Goal.com Milan are set to announce the capture of Jermaine Pennant, he'll move on as Bosman next summer.

He was being linked with a loan move to Hull, Stoke, and Wigan but something definetely changed and he's now being linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Milan, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.

Defoe to Sp*ds. I just don't understand where there endless money comes from. They don't play CL and they don't have a huge stadium somehow they can keep spending 50M+ every season on avarage players.

I see your point regarding previous spendings, but they made a fair bit in the summer. Still, i don't get it either, what with this stadium of theirs coming too.

I was told a while back by a couple of Tottenham friends of mine that they have a billionaire backer (forget what his name was), and he regularly 'helps them out'.

Joe Lewis is his name Ricky, one of Britain's richest men. He invested quite a bit in Rangers a few years ago (96/97 I think), around £40m for a 25% stake, but then sold it back to Rangers' chairman David Murray a couple of years ago for only £8.7m. This is a bit more background on him and what he was up to a few years ago before he got rid of the stake in Rangers. I also found this about Sp**s when trying to find out more about Levy/Lewis, quite a few good laughs in it, and still very true four years later.

I just looked over some past Rangers accounts, and found Levy used to sit on the board as a director. That was an unpleasant surprise for me.

Thats him tam, thanks for that. Artificial finance is how Wenger would describe Tottenham's spending.

Joe Lewis also had quite a large chunk in Bear Stearns and lost hundreds of millions when that bank was sold on the cheap to JP Morgan.

Another thing to remember is they have got themselves very good commercial deals, I believe their shirt sponsor is the third most lucrative in the country, they sell out week in week out and have high ticket prices, have never had much debt either and also they don't pay their players huge salaries either.

Yep, all of that. I don't know how much influence or investment Lewis has personally, but they seem to be a very well run club independently of his wealth.

Another thing is Levy is supposedly a proper **** sucker as well and is always trying to suck up to Lewis and stay in his good books, has bigger ambitions than just being chairman of Sp**s working under Lewis. Allegedly.....

Mansion was initially supposed to be ManU's sponsor, and they offered a very lucrative deal, Ferguson said that he doesn't want a casino company directly helping ManU so he recommended the AIG offer to them, even though they offered a lesser deal in value.

Mansion then approached Spuds with a smaller offer (since they're a smaller club, but it's still a significant offer) which they accepted (obviously). :p

Sp**s make a lot from selling players, but then so do we, compared to what wae spend at least. Match day revenues for Arsenal are far ahead of Sp**s so that's another edge we have. In addition to that we have the CL cash cow and we continuously finish higher than them in the league.

So yes, Artificial Finance does describe how they are able to afford everything that we can't seem to, considering our club definitely makes more money than theirs despite our debts.

According to sportinglife, Stephen Appiah is on trial at Tottenham this week and could sign until the end of the season !!!

Hilarious...... for now.... it had better not come back and haunt us !

I heard that rumour too sometime. And I forgot that they last summer sold Keane and Berbatov.. so last summer indeed doesn't count.

Still I think our revenue from matchdays is bigger and allthought maybe our Emirates deal isn't the most lucrative.. it;s not that bad and the CL makes up for that. And I don't understand how all these players want to play for those c**ts if they don't pay huge salaries. I know about the stadium and AW has allways been tight.. I accept that. But I hate these arguments about the economic-climate etc. If the Sp*ds can spend, so should be. I'm not saying AW must but there must be money.

Arsenal Quotes

The club changed so much, I changed with it and football has changed with us... But one thing never changes: the 90 minutes still belong to the player, 90 minutes during which he is king.
