Absolute hammering, because Brighton had to chase the game yet again. Guess what City are going to do when they meet this team?

Shows you how important it is to force Brighton to play beyond their artificial transitions. Get them chasing the game and you murder them.

Arsenal did not do that on the day, got into the "Brighton position" and were hammered as a result. That's the fundamentals of the game played. The rest, are secondary.

Brighton taking a beating from Everton and Castle while completely destroying us. It just shows how piss poor we are at the moment. Thank god our dip didn’t come any sooner.

What you are seeing the result of what happens when you chase the game. Tactics have their role to play, but in all three of Brighton's games gone by, its been about advantages and how that influenced the game state.

Brighton are getting battered here because they have been exposed defensively. They got lucky with their opening goal at the Emirates. That, more than anything else.

You need to go back and learn about football. As you dont know what you are talking about.
This Brighton team is short of several starting players and have 3 games in 6 games. You’re stretching with your analysis. But it’s ok you’re bitter. It shows that you care. 😄

You think it would have made a difference if they had their starting team? I'm telling you it would make no difference.

You can create in game situations that you want to exploit of course, if you have enough variety to your game. All managers do that today.

But the common theme with Brighton, and the reason why they lost 2 so emphatically and beat us emphatically, has everything to do with who scored first. Brighton cannot cope with their short game being taken away and you take that away by scoring first and force them to open their lines.

City will exploit them in the very same way. Cut out their short game, score first and then batter them because they will have nothing to respond with.

Your whole argument of oh we conceded the first goal and had to chase the game and we lost by 3 is laughable. All I said was de zerbi schooled Arteta on the day and even after they got first goal they had more of the ball.

In all three of the last games, their short build up was cut down completely. That is where you get at them.
So you think lamptey at Rb allowing Caicedo into midfield doesn’t instantly improve that team?

You think them not having Mac allister isn’t a huge loss? Come on man.

If we had caicedo in our team we would have won the league. Add in Mac and I am certain we improve on xhaka. These are good players. Don’t look down on them because they’re at Brighton. Trossard has shown us they have players at the top level.

Of course it does, it helps them combine better from deep because these players invert to create the numbers in midfield. The box midfield you hear everyone talk about, Brighton do that too with Caicedo inverting from RB in recent games (or at least games Ive watched).

But it comes back to the correct game state. When you are forced to chase the game, you cant put your foot on the ball as they like to do anymore. You have to attack to get back into the game, and that more than likely interrupts your ability to manufacture space.

Newcastle just had to wait for Brighton to get desperate and take risks, just like Brighton waited for us last week.

It was only 1-0 against Brighton until the 86th minute, hate that we gave up at the end and let them score twice to make the score line look resounding.
But watching that game did it look like a small team hanging on against big team away from home?

And Brighton gifted Newcastle two easy goals as well tonight. At almost the same times Arsenal gifted them the goals at the Emirates.

Why do you think that happened?

Of course the team that scores first has a huge advantage. It forces the opponent to take risks which Newcastle punished quite late on to extend it to 4-1. Goals literally change games.

Had enciso scored the game would have taken on a different dynamic. It is how things go. I get where you’re looking from a tactical stand point but Newcastle couldn’t out play that Brighton first team. Brighton manager made errors with his selection but he knows better than us the condition of his players so I can’t knock him on that either with the schedule in mind.

You seem to have ignored the elephant in the room which is that the form we have been in over the past 6 weeks has been poor and it allows teams to take advantage of any poor play or errors. It’s not that Brighton can’t beat us. They have several times over the years. It’s that we were not at the races on that day.

Arsenal in top form wins that match 8/10 times.

Newcastle xgoals 2.99 Brighton 0.53
Arsenal xgoals 0.76 Brighton 1.71
