The 31-year-old is one of the players being targeted by AS Monaco, after the club were bought by Dmitri Rybolovlev.
The Russian billionaire is ready to back a recruitment drive as Monaco look to avoid a second consecutive relegation, reports French radio station RMC.
Club officials have apparently identified a number of players from the UAE league as possible acquisitions, but also want Squillaci to add some experience at the back.
The 31-year-old struggled to adapt to English football following his arrival from Sevilla in the summer of 2010 and after an error-strewn season, Gunners boss Arsène Wenger attempted to offload him.
Those efforts were unsuccessful and Squillaci has been a bit-part player at the Emirates Stadium this season, with just one Premier League appearance to his name.
Wenger's former club could now come to the rescue with an offer that would suit both Arsenal and the ex-France international.

Thank you MDGoonah. You have made my day.

Maybe they fancy signing half our dross squad players so we can get some real quality in?

If we manage to sell Squillaci, I reckon we'll buy someone soon. Doubt they can really afford his wages though.

Re: Squillaci to Monaco

He's 5th choice now, and has Miquel on his side about to pass him up the pecking order. Squillaci, Diaby, Arshavin, Rosicky and Chamakh, sooner they get dumped the better.

the team was bought by a mega rich dude. they can afford it.

Monaco is 19th in Ligue 2.

Unreal, to be honest. CL runners up in 2004, at the bottom of the 2nd division in France 7 years later.

Oh whoops, didn't see that the club had just been bought out. Carry on then!

Well earned place amongst club legends like Igor Stepanovs, Mikael Silvestre or Zinedine Cygan.

That summer 2010 in general was disastrous. Chamakh was good initially but has faded immensely, Squillaci is a joke and we didn't buy a goalkeeper when it seemed like the most obvious thing in the world. Koscielny was a fantastic buy in time though.

Re: Squillaci to Monaco

Yeah, it was indeed disastrous.
The Fabregas transfer saga, four CBs who left us (Gallas, Sol, Silvestre, Senderos) were being replaced by two who've never played any second in the Premier League before, Eduardo was replaced by Chamakh whose "breather" lasts a year now, no new GK was signed......

Summer 2011 was even worse.

I like the way the report says "Wengers former club came to his rescue" when they came in with an offer to buy Squillacci.

How bad does a footballer have to be before someone come out with a statement like that.

Let's hope Wenger has learned his lesson from buying players like Squillaci and Chamakh. Let's have no more inferior players from an inferior league, on the cheap walking in to the first team
