Serdar Tasci

Sport.co.uk can confirm that Premier League clubs, including North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are tracking German international Serdar Tasci.

Tasci, 23, has been linked with Italian agents Juventus as well as the North London rivals, after a solid campaign for Bundesliga club Stuttgart where Tasci played 35 times scoring on 3 occasions. The versatile defender who can play at centre back, or at full back earned a call-up to Joachim’s Loew’s World Cup squad, however Tasci has yet to make an appearance at this summers’ finals.

Uli Ferber, the agent of Serdar Tasci informed Sport.co.uk that Premier League clubs are interested in his client, confirming that the tough tackilinh German could be tempted by a move to either the Gunners or Lillywhites.

Ferber told Sport.co.uk in an exclusive interview:

“The situation is that Serdar (Tasci) is aware of the interest from the Premier League, and he is eager to play in England at some point during his career. However he will not make a decision on his future until after the World Cup as that is more important at the moment. But, he is a fan of the Premier League and the football played in England.”

Ferber admitted that Tasci would be open to a move to either interested party of Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal. He said:

“Serdar respects both clubs as two of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and in Europe. He would love to play for such a well-supported club. Also he is a fan of Arsène Wenger, the work he has done, and has great respect for him.”

Arsenal have set Stuttgart central defender Serdar Tasci in their sights as they bid to shore up their backline, and are set to battle bitter rivals Tottenham for the youngster's signature.

According to German reports, the 23-year-old has been valued by Stuttgart at €15-20 million.

Tasci, who has also been linked with Juventus, had repeatedly expressed the goal of "playing for a top side abroad."

He is a very talented defender, who can play on the right flank, as well as at centre-half. He is tough, quick, has good technique and has the potential to reach the very top.

Can't see this one happening if Sol stays.

Sport were the first ones to call Vermaelen last season though so they've got sources within the club. Interesting rumour. Might be something to it.

He is a good player. Has been a regular for Stuttgart for about 3 seasons now and has performed quite well in that period. He is a bit raw though but he has age on his side and his aerial ability and tackling are good. Would like him here. It would mean that we have healthy competition between the CB's.

That would not mean that he is ideal though. Hummels, Howedes are better than him at club level and internationally as well. Dont know how they were not selected.

We have been linked with almost each and every young CB in Europe and we should be signing one of them atleast in combination with Koscielny.

Wenger needs to sort out Campbell's position quickly.

Hummels would be a great signing. He was the most impressive centre-half I saw in Germany last season.

Don't know about the veracity of the link, but that price tag they quoted is something we'd never pay.

Also, as stated by above, if we need young defenders from Bundesliga, Hummels or Subotic would be the one I'd want.

That was a huge letdown.

I've seen some of Tasci. While he is a tough tackling, I believe he is similar to Vermaelen as willing to engage in attacks thus leaving spaces behind.

But if the quoted price of 15-20m € is for real, then we may forget him right away.

The Daily Mail is suggesting we're in talks, but things were held up while Stuttgart find a replacement. Think there might be something in this:

Arsenal in talks to sign £10m-rated Tottenham target Serdar Tasci from Stuttgart

Arsenal are holding talks with Stuttgart over defender Serdar Tasci. The German international, 23, is valued at around £10million and has also attracted interest from Tottenham.

Arsenal are in discussions to sign Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci. However, Stuttgart started a scramble to find a replacement centre half as talks progressed and are confident a deal for Tasci will be done.

Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has already signed Lorient defender Laurent Koscielny who has started training with the club ahead of his official unveiling.

Let's hope this is true.

2 defenders in, great ages too, and our defence will have a fresh look to it. I'm excited.

Arsenal Quotes

Thierry Henry was very quick at analysing everything that was going on and how he needed to react. This intelligence, this capacity to evaluate, understand and question oneself, is also the mark of great players... For everyone, for the fans and for us, he symbolised the golden age of Arsenal.
