Serdar Tasci

I disagree. Terry has had a few poor games (for example against Everton away), but has overall been very, very solid this season.

age is overrated sometimes. in our squad i find our older players who are suppose to be more mature in their play the most disappointing. oh and john terry was better at 24-26 than he is now at 29.

That's questionable. Terry has been rock solid for Chelsea this season. And true, it isn't about the age but rather the experience (and obviously quality). But neither Tasci nor Koscielny have enough experience imo. We need a leader next to Verm and I doubt you'll find many CB's with leadership and experience who isn't at least 26-27 years old.

A perfect example of Vermaelen's inexperience was in the second leg against Barcelona. We were losing 2-1 if I'm not mistaken and there was an aerial ball to be won in the middle of the park. Vermaelen was overzealous and tried to win it despite the vast amount of space that had been vacated in our half, when a more stable and calmer approach of dropping back and filling the gap would have sufficed. I like the sound of Koscielny and I can envisage the two forming a solid pairing but my worry is that it won't be resolute at the most pivotal of times, due to their collective inexperience. Mind you, an assumption on Koscielny's part.

A link, albeit from caughtoffside, with actual quotes! (albeit from agents and rather ambiguous...)

Tasci was apparently identified, along with Özil and Khedira, as the future spine of the German team back in 2007. There was a push from media and fans to put all three in to the German team straight after Euro 2008 and even before the tournament began, but whereas the other two have established themselves, Tasci seems to have lost his way a tad. He's supposedly the most talented German defender of his generation, over Hummels, Howedes, Badstuber and Boateng and he still seems to be performing reasonably well in the BL. I think a move to a club like ours could be the making of him.

Not that comforting seeing as I don't rate Badstuber and Boateng at all.

It's interesting how so many of these talented germans all have history with Vfb Stuttgart

but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
Can play full back as well right? I like the look of Tasci a lot however 4 CBs under 25? something will have to give.

What about Heiko Westermann as a great German defensive prospect? He's huge, a perfect age, and can play fullback as well.

He'll get slagged off with a name like that. All you'll hear from the stands is Wasteman, Wasteman.

Sky have picked up on it.

Can someone clarify something for me. He has buy out clause of £18.5M. Does this mean we have to meet that?

Arsenal Quotes

I was receiving offers from many other clubs and declining them all, even the most tempting ones. Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG contacted me, Bayern, France, England...I am happy to have been able to say no to more glory, more money, and to have been guided only by the idea of loyally serving the club. I had knitted myself a soul in Red and White.
