Really feels like an end of an era.

Theo had plenty of short comings and has handled some things very poorly although alot of those situations were created due to our own poor management off the field.

Theo has always came across as a professional. Never in the papers for anything negative or uncompromising. Will he go down as an Arsenal legend?Perhaps not, but he will be forever in our history.

I wish him the best possible success in his next chapter with Everton* and hope he is now fully over his injury problems.

*except when he plays us.

Good luck to him. He never quite was starting quality here imo, even at his best, but he had some outstanding qualities that got him by. Hopefully he does well at Everton except for a certain 2 fixtures per season.

Great deal for us, £20m and a big chunk of wages freed up.

I think this is a great read about Theo & sums it up to a tee. This piece was written a few years ago.

THE WHY OF WALCOTT
By
Tim Stillman
January 21, 2016

Maybe Walcott’s “vanilla” character contributes to the emotional response he seems to produce with the Arsenal fanbase. His smirking “2-0” gesture at some pleasingly irate Sp**s fans threatened to move him into cult hero status, but Arsenal fans immediately didn’t see him again for nine months, reducing the impact of the gesture. There have been close shaves with Walcott’s contracts, provoking some rather pointed comments from Arsène Wenger, who is usually rather more taciturn on such issues.

Yet even as his deals entered their death throes, with Arsenal frantically swatting beads of sweat from their brow and snipping wires as the clock ticked down to zero, it never felt as though Walcott’s availability generated a huge amount of interest from other clubs. This, again, is quite extraordinary for an England international and a first choice Arsenal player in his mid 20s. During these contract contretemps, his tame image probably insulated him from the cynicism players usually attract in these situations. Any ill feeling was distilled, parcelled off and laid firmly at the door of “Walcott’s people.”

Good luck Theo.
He was quite frustrating the last few seasons especially during our 2015/16 season.
I think the unfortunate knee injury he got vs. Sp*ds was very detrimental to his speed and also his sharpness.

Anyway, you have to tip your hat to a player that scored over 100 goals here.

Good luck and hope you smash them in against our rivals.
