Thierry Henry Signs for Pro Evolution Soccer 4

Konami of Europe has announced that Thierry Henry, the world top striker, is to be one of the faces of Pro Evolution Soccer 4, the latest installment in Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo's highly regarded football simulation for PlayStation 2, PC-DVD and the Xbox video game system from Microsoft.

The current European and Premiership Golden Boot holder, Thierry Henry is the most prolific and respected striker in the modern game, and a self-confessed fan of the Pro Evolution Soccer series. The 27-year-old striker joined Arsenal from Juventus in 1999 and rapidly established himself as a Premiership force, scoring 154 goals in five seasons with the North London club. He is also a mainstay of the French national side, with 27 goals to his 63 appearances.

As part of the deal, Henry will appear on Pro Evolution Soccer 4's packaging and promotional materials. He will also be available for promotional purposes in the run-up to the game's launch in October.

Pro Evolution Soccer 4 represents another huge step forward for Konami's seminal football title. Already regarded as the most realistic football simulation for any home format, the new game ups the ante further with more realistic animation, individually tailored player movement, and skills that reflect the attributes of the world's greatest players. The new game also includes a host of club sides of Dutch, Italian, Spanish leagues, such as Ajax, Feyenoord, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Roma and Milan.

"Pro Evolution Soccer 4 has become a landmark title for Konami, and Thierry Henry's involvement proves how we are looking to take the series forward," commented Martin Schneider, European Marketing Director, Konami of Europe. "We are delighted to be working with the most talented striker in the modern game, especially since he's such a big Pro Evo fan."

Since its inception as ISS Pro Evolution Soccer for PlayStation in 1996, the Pro Evolution Soccer series has constantly evolved to become the most realistic game of its kind. Players control every nuance of real play, with through balls, passes, first-time volleys and flicked on headers, with the game rapidly expanding its fan base as annual sales regularly bypass the one million units mark with each release.

The series' appeal has also seen a number of dedicated fan sites emerge, and an officially endorsed national league wherein over thousands of die-hard fans meet for regional heats to determine the best players.

"The Pro Evolution Soccer series is by far the closest to real football," commented Thierry Henry. "I am very excited to be involved with a game of this calibre and look forward to working closely with Konami of Europe in the coming months."

Great I cant wait, I had some issues with Pro evo 3 so lets see if number 4 irons out them out. In saying that pro 3 is the greatest footy game ever.

Hopefully they will give jose reyes proper stats and actually include him in the next installment along with cesc fagregas. As ive had to design them my selves and my have gone over board by giving them super stats

Do you know if Nike are sponsoring it as well? I would love to see our real kits instead of those old ones. Knowing EA ****'s ability to steal licenses for everything, we would probably have the 02/04 kits without even a decent Arsenal badge.

PES3 is the Abraham of all footie games ever. And I love how you get so many editing options, especially the boots. I don't see that in FIFA2**4, HA!

I got the jap version otherwise known as Winning Eleven 8.
its much much better, but there is a lot of slowdown during corners or free kicks for some reason.
There are real kits but only for clubs from Italy,Spain and Holland.
But they have a sponser editor, so you can easily create arsenal's kits and stick O2 on it. I will try and take some pics of my kits.

I think i will remain a FIFA person myself. Well, my son will, i just enjoy playing it as well. I have heard some good things about this game but seeing that my son has had every fifa game since fifa international soccer in 1994, he says he doesnt want any other footy game besides the upcoming fifa 2005

I know nothing of this Pro Evo...I play the Fifa series myself. In fact I was just playing Fifa '04 on a projection screen in my friends basement last week. I haven't bought a football game in ages. I think I still have Fifa 99 and Fifa '00 for my Playstation somewhere...

i'm sorry to say, but you and your son are ******! i have bought every fifa game from 94 to 2000; but when i found pes, it was no doubt about it. fifa is an arcade style of game, while pes is for the footy lovers. the ones who prefer realism...

Woaaaah Adam! .. I agree that Pro evo is the best but Kikoff Was a class game(Amiga) and runs ISS to a close 2nd....Playability was awesome plus you could score some outrageous goals from the halfway Line.
My favourite player 7 R Shaw for Italy ---ban his pace!

I loved Super Soccer more to be honest. Serious head banging to the music on it, whilst hardcore game playing doesn't get any better with it's curving goals from outside the box, aswell as aptly wrong named players. It has the whole package!

Striker was also excellent. You could play indoors, and it's so ****ing fast you get a real hit playing it.

Pro Evo > Fifa. ;)

Glad Henry is on the cover, the game wouldn't be selling well if they put some **** on the front like RVN.

Heavy. I love Pro and have bought every version since IS pro on the PS1. Also got every Winning eleven. But seeing as I'm better than most of my friend it gets a bit boring after winning so much so I choose a team like Galatasary but they then beat me so I get angry and smack them next time. Infact the only games I play more are Champ Manager and LMA manager. Love those two games sine two years ago.
