Is di canio really replacing Mignolet with Mannone? Wow.
Exactly.
That's what we should have done, and then we would have three decent GK's.
Szczesney, Mignolet and Fabianski.

Name me 5 top clubs with 3 good keepers. Neuer's back up at Bayern is Starke, Hart's backup is Pantilimon, Valdés backup is Pinto, Cech's backup is Turnbull etc

At most clubs there is a clear difference between the first and second choice GK. It is very difficult to effectively rotate two top level keepers, let alone your argument of having 3 vying for the first team. What we need is to move Fabianski on and bring in someone who will relegate Szczesny to the bench for a little while.

We only have Szczesney as a realistic first team quality GK, so if we bought Mignolet we would have two decent options and Fabianski as third choice.

I would have preferred Begovich but it looks like Cesar is going to be bought instead.

I still feel the GK position is one of the weakest areas.
I would turn the question round and rather than saying, name me 5 top clubs with 3 good keepers," I would say name me a a top club with worse options than ours.

Szczesney is good, but certainly not consistent or experienced to be called any better than that.
As for Fabianski and Mannone, they are no better than third choice at any top level club.

That's probably because they haven't seen more than the Manure match start of the season of Mannone in goal, where he had a great performance and saved us from another embarrassment in that ****hole.

Think he's a decent keeper when he gets a run of games, not Arsenal standard though.

I didn't think he would get another PL club, especially as first choice.
A strange decision from a strange manager.

i've seen how poor mannone can be, but i have a feeling with consistent playing time he could be an decent keeper. never a great keeper though

The reported fee is 2.5m - 3m right? That's pretty good

Ah yes, I remember that game. Made me quite excited about his chances of being a decent option.

Still, best of luck Vito, in Di Canio's weird Sunderland experiment.
