Another point, regarding our game or how we want to play isn't dependent solely on Giroud. Did we have a better starting line up than Southampton, today? For sure in terms of individuals but we couldn't assert any sort of control over them for long stretches of the game. Of course, the limitations and nature of the players on the pitch along with their application played a part like Ox and Özil but that its a collective failure.

I think Giroud has played as many minutes for Frame as he has for us this season. He's rusty and low on confidence after his miss for France. He's not what we need as a starter but we know what we'll get in terms of numbers from him. He played a part in winning the penalty and that's crucial as we were never going to score any other way today.

Unhealthy obsession with Aaron Ramsey
I'm not the biggest fan of Giroud, but it's undeniable we just look better with him up top.
Having the Theo's, Alexis, Lucas' running around up there use looks pointless IMO.

I've accepted we may never buy that tier 1 type striker at Arsenal. The only hope is that we can unearth one.
Giroud is probably the best we can hope for ATM.

This man's value will be more noticeable with the new competition he faces. He needs it and thrives off it it.

No, he's not a world class forward who wins games by himself but he'll be much more effective knowing his place in the team isn't a given.

Arsène has accepted that getting one truly blistering CF is too difficult given that EVERYONE knows we need one. He's opted to go for his rotation plan upfront but he's realised Theo isn't up for it.

I dunno why people are taking offence to others not rating a player because he "puts himself about". Messi doesn't run into defenders, and Aguero doesn't stand in the box trying to push defenders out the way.

This type of mentality belongs at 2011 Stoke where Crouch's knock downs, hugging of defenders and headers are valued over actually playing with a football.

not rating doesn't equal downplaying every good thing and focusing on his bad traits.
Both Messi and Aguero play style is different than Giroud, There are people who value Olivier Bierhoff, Miroslav Klose, Kenneth Anderson, and myriad of other traditional Targetman striker like Giroud.
The fact we have discussed this over and over and over and over and still you guys refused to see there is a positive side to Giroud, among the negatives is what makes this thread boring.

Our level definitely dropped when Giroud came on. But that's what you get from Giroud. Disjointed performances. But you play him in the hope that he'll pop up with a goal.

Don't care about Giroud's style of play if he scored more than 20 in the league or is consistent enough. All we've asked from him is consistency. Not going on 15 game goal drought.

He's not good enough to score 20 league goals. Consistency is the mark of the really good players.

Perez definitely won't be the answer either, looks decidedly average. Squaddie.

Would love a 20 goal striker but reaching the 15 goal range consistently in this league is still good... Just look around how many players do that.

'World Class' Sturridge for example is 27 & has reached that mark just once.
