Arsenal have reportedly reignited their interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

THE LOWDOWN: TRANSFER BUSINESS

Just like they did during the summer transfer window, Arsenal have been preparing towards another successful transfer business in the upcoming window.

Names like Ruben Neves, Manuel Locatelli and Marcos Asensio have all been linked with a move to be Emirates.

One key area Arsenal are willing to strengthen is the midfield position; Danilo remains an option, but there is a fresh report linking Arsenal with another Seria A star.

THE LATEST: REIGNITED INTEREST

Arsenal have reportedly reignited their interest in Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic over his signature in January.

The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder still has about 18 months left on his current contract, but a lot of teams are pushing for his signature in the coming window.

Milinkovic-Savic, who is currently focused on the World Cup in Qatar with Serbia, has sparked a lot of noise in the transfer market noise over a possible winter departure.

According to LazioNews24, Arsenal held talks with Milinkovic-Savic’s agent Mateja Kezman in the summer but looked elsewhere, and have now reignited their interest in the Lazio star.

As per the report, the Gunners are ready to submit an offer of €60m plus Albert Sambi Lokonga for the Serbian midfielder, which is a better proposal to what Juventus presented for his signature.

Meanwhile, Lazio are keen to give him a new contract but he’s only willing to pen a new deal with a €40-50m release clause, which is short of the Biancocelesti’s proposed figure of €70m.

THE VERDICT: DIFFICULT OPTION

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is an excellent player and one of the best midfielders in Serie A over the past three seasons. However, he is going to be a difficult player to get.

In addition, his age does not fit the current recruitment profile and that could make Arsenal focus on other young prospects instead of the Serbian.
