Mr. Agreeable
otherwise he would have bought him last year for less than that.
You honestly believe transfers are like FIFA don't you..... Like if Arsène wants a player he just pushes the X button a few times and vboila, done deal. Because it couldn't be a whole host of other reasons that we didn't get him, say like; LYONnot wanting to sell, the player being happy where he is, player personal reasons, Wenger being cluesless about Giroud, over expenditure on Mustafi and Xhaka. No no no, it is simply because the god king AW didn't want him... dude?

This has Higuain, Suarez written all over it.
A very good striker available at a reasonable (in this market) price, instead spend the summer chasing a much more unlikely option with a higher ceiling.
Mmmbop will stay at Monaco, Lacazette will go somewhere else and score 25-30 goals and Giroud and Welbeck will fire us to fourth or fifth.
**** me, optimism like I have never seen it on AM before. That's a stretch mate. If we keep just Welbeck and Giroud, we're not going to be anywhere near 4th/5th!

Wenger will learn from his mistakes. Everyone is forgetting the unique circumstances he signed his new contract under.

Maybe I'm the naive one but he knows one mistake is enough to go back to the mood we had last season. He won't be given as much leeway this season.

Wenger will give the Mbappe team a deadline I think, he's made me look dumb in the past but I just can't see him not signing a striker.

This exactly. Most fans seem to view the transfer window through a fantasy football/galactico mentality. They want to win the transfer window by getting the guy who makes the best headlines and gives them summer bragging rights over fans of other clubs. But the big, splashy transfers (not to say that Lacazette wouldn't be that to some extent) don't always work out. Sometimes it's about getting the right guy, not the biggest name.

So true. Mbappe cost 240K last season, if we had gone for him the fans would have been like "Not another fvcking youth project!" Same with Kante to Leicester. There are plenty of top young players out there but we don't seem to find them any more.

TBF wenger tried for n.keta, k.mappe and sidibe last year. but could not promise them first team roles.

I'd just add to this that too many posters expect Wenger to refuse to sell our best players but expect other managers to hand over any player we want

Fantasy football indeed

I watch a lot of game of LACAZ as you can guess with my avater. And sure i'm not the most objective one. But lacazette has been best scorer of the league beating Ibra, best player of the player beating ibra and all the stars of PSG. Heres the lsit of the strikers who scored more than him in the last four year
CRISTIANO RONALDO
2. L. MESSI
3. L. SUÁREZ
4. Z. IBRAHIMOVIC
5. R. LEWANDOWSKI
6. E. CAVANI
7. G. HIGUAÍN
8. S. AGÜERO
9. P. AUBAMEYANG

Pick the one you want.
He's a top player. You just don't know him like "nobody" knew Tolisso before Carlo Ancellotti demand him and make bayern break the record fee for him.
Like nobody knew Umtiti, before Barca pay 25M for him and made him a starter.

You just don't know the luck you have to be able to sign him for a decent price comparing to the 90M of Morata or 100M of Lukaku.
Real teams real pros know the value of Lyon's best players.

Mate, thanks for your opinion. Obviously you are a OL and Lacazette fan so I will take that into account as well. As I said before, I have watched Laca over the years. I watch Ligue 1 regularly and likely more than anyone else on AM. I know Tolisso, Umtiti and most of the up and coming french players well.
I have commented on Lacazette last year as well when he was linked with AFC and imo he is marginal improvement over Giroud. I would not spend 60 M over him. So let's agree that we disagree and leave it there.

Would you pay £60 million for Harry Kane @carlito'sway ?

Lacazette gets goals. Left foot, right foot, in behind, penalties. He scores goals. He is therefore worth £50 - 60 million.

£60 million gets you Lacazette or Aubamayang. £80 million gets you Belotti. £120 million gets you Mbappe. It doesn't matter who we get as long as we buy a striker and replace Özil and Alexis if they leave.

----------------------------Belotti/Auba/Laca

-Forsberg----------------------------------------------Lemar

or

----------------------------Belotti/Auba/Laca

-Ramsey--------------------------------------------------Özil

+ new cm

or

----------------------------Belotti/Auba/Laca

--Forsberg/Lemar-------------------------------------Özil

It genuinely doesn't matter to me. We play a style of football that creates chances, we just need a mobile striker who can finish. Ideally you want Özil and Alexis behind a new striker, but I couldn't care less if they both left to be honest. We would be just as dangerous if not more with any of the above.

All this "marginal improvement wouldn't pay x amount" stuff. Utd will be paying £60m+ for a player who isn't an improvement on the one they just had. Chelsea will be paying the same for a player who's barely an improvement on the striker they had. Any striker who is a big improvement on the strikers we have isn't for sale, so i'll take the marginal improvement. Games of football are often decided on fine margins.

It's a shame he's so honest. Keita and Mbappe would have both become starters here by the end of the season if not earlier.

Next time Wenger should tell them that they'll get a statue if they come.

I was going to say the same. Tell them what they want to hear, that's what Wenger & the BoD do to us!
