On a more optimistic note. During LVG'S final season with us at Barca he failed spectacularly. We were nowhere near getting top 4 and looked like the club waa finished. We had good but not great players but it looked like we were finished.

Then we made some changes, bought in Rijkaard, trusted in youth and began our rise to the top.

No reason Arsenal cant do the same and trust in youth and the academy. You just need to find the right personal to trust to better the club.

Although at Barca the supporters own rhe club, so there's no conflict of interests everyone wants the club to be as successful as possible. Maybe not the case with Kroenke.

If you want change he needs to be pressured to sell the club like Sp**s fans did with Sir Sugar.
very little effort was made whilst we had Usmanov ready and willing to buy out Stan, so there's little chance of any mass pressure being put on without any potential new owner lined up

Saturday is going to be toxic if we lose.

Anyone who starts that crap now can burn in Hell as far as I'm concerned. After these past few years of *****ing and moaning about Wenger and creating a toxic atmosphere that was counterproductive, people need to give the new guys a chance. Everyone with half a brain knew coming in that this was not going to be a quick turnaround. If this crap starts up again you can kiss any chance of getting a top 4 spot or winning Europa League goodbye. For crying out loud, the team went 22 games unbeaten before an injury crisis struck. At least give them a chance to play out the season and see what the summer window looks like.

Didn't Sven have an entire scouting team of his own that he brought with him? And has Edu had a lot of success when it comes to player recruitment? Replacing Sven with someone like him seems utterly ****ing insane

Yeah mate, we just need our academy to produce Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Busquets Valdez, Pedro and Pique then everything will be great for us.

I suppose we will also need the best player in the world to take our own Messi under his wing for a time and have the funds to buy the best player from another league and shunt him off on the wing.

Nothing too hard or luck based involved there. Its so simple I don't know why every other club just doesn't do it. We just need our academy to produce:

The greatest player of all time
Two top defenders
A capable goalkeeper
Two of the greatest midfielders of all time
One of the greatest DMs of all time

No pressure Mertesacker.

EDIT:
I forgot about Busquets

They can avoid this kind of situation if they communicate better with the fans imo and explain what's going on and what's the short/long term plan for the club.

Because right now it looks like we're going nowhere.

Well this is interesting and fit's in with what was said in the independent that Wenger was against the Özil deal . So how can Raul do such an about face now ?

.
. 22, 2018. In the next few days, the Arsenal triumvirate worked through their two other big decisions.

One was the decision to re-sign Mesut Özil. Like Sanchez, he was six months away from free agency, and he, too, wanted a big bump in salary: from $9.6 million to $20 million-plus. Arsenal chose to extend his deal through 2021 at something close to his requested wage.

You missed my point entirely, it's not about luck it's about spotting snd nurturing young talent rather than trying to compete with mega signings of the big clubs like Madrid's galacticos.

No doubt they could do a better job in that area, but that's still no reason for fans to go back to creating the sort of toxicity we saw last year. I don't think anyone who truly cares more about the club than they do about attracting attention to themselves could.

Raul and Emery are a gang...he cant get his player from sven so he went to see raul dan raul side by him. Raul and Emery has to go because they already cross the line and disrespect the structure of the club.

You missed mine, it is about luck.

How many world class talents did the United Academy produce after the "Class of 92?"

Same for La Masia after Thiago?

Its hard enough for an academy to produce one world class talent in any given graduating year or hell 3 graduating years. So advice of just follow the Barcelona model isn't the answer for me.

You need to be extremely, extremely lucky to have a bunch of young players coming through all at once in different positions then they all turn out to be world class.

Academies are by and large a place for the club to bring through valuable squad players like John O'Shea and Gibbs. No sane football club should base its hopes solely on its academy. There is a reason why the class of 92 was called a "golden generation" because people recognize that sort of thing doesn't happen every day.

If it was so easy to build a team out of academy graduates then everyone would be doing it. If we have a golden generation on our hands now then great but again it would be the exception.

I agree but we live in the social media era where everyone is entitled to their opinion and think they're a specialist unfortunatly.

I think this is something the club has to deal with and it's also their job to try their best to avoid that with better communication, more transparency.
They have to show the fans they have a genuine and realistic vision, a plan because right now it looks like a mess.

To be fair, I don’t think the attention will fully be on Emery as of yet but definitely on Kroenke as it’s January and Emery has already stated there’s no funds available (Arsène would have covered this up for Stan).

During the final years of Arsène, there was a constant divide with large sections of our support that turned against him and fans not turning up to games but one thing the support wasn’t divided on was getting Stan Kroenke out of our club.

The change of manager and unbeaten run has papered over the cracks regarding Stan Kroenke. Personally, I don’t think it’s good for them to do it mid season as it will effect the team but you can’t really blame them. They’re paying inflated prices for match day tickets yet the owner doesn’t want to invest anything in to the club. If we’re no longer a top club and can’t attract the top talent then we should lower the prices for the match goers.

It was never going to be easy but we had a clear structure in place for change. Now with Gazidis gone and potentially Mislintat, it’s looking like the model for change is falling apart because of our lack of ambition from our owner.

a fan of a club who's been doing somewhat strange transfer business recently should probably not be lecturing fans of another club to be honest!

Barcelona hit gold with a crop of unreal talent, and of course with Messi. What will be interesting to see is how they re invent themselves when Messi is no longer playing. The signigns they have made in the last 2 or 3 years doesn't suggest very joined up thinking.

I think you forgot to mention that we should also start luring and poaching kids from all over the UK, promise their families a bright future while their sons earn hundreds of thousands of pounds a month, only to toss 99.9% of them away.

There's a reason why La Masia was so successful, although not very ethical. The larger the net you throw the higher the chance to catch a golden fish.

Arsenal Quotes

When Patrick Vieira came over from AC Milan, he didn’t know a word of English. We gave him accommodation, phone, car and an English teacher. I talked to Patrick in fluent French and before a game I asked in French, can you speak a bit of English to me? Patrick nodded and replied: Tottenham are shit!
