We have a much bigger job to do than most of our rivals. Man City and Liverpool don‘t need much at all, Tottenham are more concerned with keeping the core players they have and add a midfielder, Chelsea are banned so won‘t do anything.

We on the other hand need to do a lot more than that. Our pre season starts in early July and none of our first team signings will be with the team in the US. Poor stuff from our management.

We won’t be getting top 4 for the next 2 years.

Not until we can shift Mustafi, Özil, Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang. With their wages off the books we can then start investing.

2018 killed the near future of this club.

January, John Cross tweeted we had a limited budget of just £40m for 2019.

Not surprising it’s all quiet then. To buy enough players to boost our squad sufficiently to challenge for the top 4 for the price of a just one minor player in the City squad, will take a **** load of shopping around.

How can we have only £40M to spend though when the Adidas deal which is gonna kick in in a few weeks will bring us an extra +30 to 40M by itself.

Cross (just like the rest) was tweeting the estimate of the Arsenal Supporters Trust, which stated that they weren't figuring in the £40 million in new sponsorship revenue that was coming on board July 1. There's money to spend. Just not as much as would have been had the club made the Champions League.

Right now nobody really knows what's going on behind the scenes. There are a lot of rumors, most of them from dubious sources. I think there will be quite a few ins and outs this summer.

Pretty sure the quoted income from that deal was if we got CL football, it will be less

I've heard a few rumours of us going in for & being told to sign Leicesters cm Ndidi this window. If true is it worth having a go to sign him? He's certainly worth it on FIFA.

Let's just get Saliba in (one for the future), give Emery his second season & then bring in Rudy Straeuli for the following pre-season to whip these weaklings into shape. Whoever washes out will have their place filled with the reserves until a new manager (one absent the surname Arteta) is appointed.

Why spend what meagre resources we have on players whose values are grossly inflated by their parent clubs?

According to the AST, it'll be going towards balancing the books as we're making a substantial operating loss.

This is from their 'analysis':

  • A huge loss of about £54m is locked in and minimal cash is generated for transfers in summer 2019 (I estimate £44m). Arsenal’s die was effectively cast on the cost of the signings made in 2018.
  • 2019/2020 sees help arrive in the form of new sponsorship deals agreed in 2018 with Adidas and Emirates and a new EPL TV deal cycle which offers some overseas rights growth. All in all, we estimate close on £40m of additional revenue will come in to almost balance the books generating surplus cash of £72m.

Honestly people need to relax. No one is buying anyone at the moment other than the Germans and Madrid.

It's summer, you're alive, life is good, go live it.
