looks like we have Ceballos plus Xhaka, Willock and now Elneny. Basically one man down from where we were last season. Again it's just my opinion but I'd rather not rush and sign someone just for the sake of it. Plus ERS coming back in also and Amn who can fill in and looks better now than he did at the start of last season.

So I admit it's not ideal but at least it's not risking 30 m plus on a player we may not want just for the sake of having a player in.

This is what Arteta is thinking. He clearly has a 3 year plan to begin with. He won't be signing dross, he'll sign quality players that push him towards his goal of a CL in 3 years. If he can't sign the desired quality then we won't sign anyone just for the sake of it. 433 is the desire.

Starting 11 wise i'm not sure what the goal is. For sure it'll have Martinez/Leno, Tierney, Saliba, AMN, Gabriel, Auba and Pepe if things go to plan. But after that its pretty open, decisions will have to be made on players like Xhaka who probably aren't good enough in the long run.

I reckon we will try and finish off most of our transfers within the next 2 weeks. 14 day quarantine period means we have to move quick before the hectic games in October.

Wanted the visual more than the wording with this. Because there's no headache with Kola/Torreira/Sokratis and probably Elneny leaving.

I'm not sure when the homegrown rules are changing, but we have plenty coming through which is good. Such a strong set of younger players.

I might be wrong here but isn't that graphic outdated ???

Willock and Eddie recently became 21. That would mean they count as HG.

Nelson and ESR are 20 and will be there soon also.

So Sokratis and Torreira look most likely to be going. Kola seems likely too. A slight chance of Douzi and Laca going. Not a huge amount of incoming funds is it, but a fair amount off the wages.

They've only just become 21 so no. When they hit 22 they'll be classed as HG though yeah.

Possibilities are

Torreira 25-30 m euros (loan fee with obligation)- Fiorentina
Guendouzi same price (loan fee with obligation)- Valencia
Sokratis - 4.5 m euros - Napoli
Kola - 4.5m euros -Schalke loan or not?
Holding - loan to Newcastle, any idea or loan fee?
Chambers to Fulham - 17 m euros
Leno or Martinez - 22m euros
Bellerin or AMN - 30m euros
Lacazette - 30m euros

That's the max we could earn, roughly 158m euros

Aouar 50 m euros
Partey 50m euros
Edouard 45m euros
Ceballos loan fee

Leaves you with 13 million euros + our actual transfer budget which is rumoured to be around 30 million to cover Gabriel.

I mean that's fantasy land. If the club can pull of the sales the incoming are straight forward as the price is set for all of them. Man that would strengthen us so much.

This thread should be renamed Partey and Aouar. I really can't see the club going for anyone other than those two at this point. Maybe a center forward if Lacazette goes.

Looks unlikely with both atm.

Partey alone is good enough for this season, think we can challenge for top 4 as it is. Crazy amount of variety in our squad if we sign him; 4321, 433, 343, you name it, we can field any 11 in those formations and have quality all over the pitch.

Yeah I agree, its obviously all dependent on many we can get rid off. I do think the club will make an effort to bring both in though.

I really do think we need both tbh. We only really have Willian that can play inbetween the lines, so i think we may still struggle against the "lesser" teams.

Yeah, true. Though in 4231:

Laca
Auba Willian Pepe

I'd say we have enough sauce to make relatively easy work of most smaller teams. Obviously signing Aouar, a player I really want, would give us even more possibilities playing him at 10 in the above example or 8 in a 433, and moving Willian wide, etc.

Its an improvement, but relative to what the other top 6 have in these positions, its not enough imo. I also see Willian as a wide player, I know Arteta has suggest he may play centrally, but to my knowledge he hasn't played there at all for Chelsea. Ideally I'd like a proper specialist in that position.

Does Mustafi count as homegrown? wasnt he a part of evertons youth system from 2009-2012?
