Alex Ox - 100k a week
Jesse Lingard - 100k a week

Dele Alli - 50k a week
Harry Kane - 100k a week

How the hell do Sp**s do it? Alli is probably the best young player in the world and he's 'only'on 50k whilst mediocre players like Ox are on 100k. What has Ox done to deserve that money?

Lindgard and Ox have been at their clubs for 6+ years, that's why. It's like when people complain about Wenger's salary compared to other managers.

That £55k p/w deal was a stop-gap, surely?! In the summer Alli will sign a bumper deal. City would quadruple those wages without thinking.

For 100K+ though? no thanks. He can walk. No way is he worth that much in wages for us.[/QUOTE]

But Özil is worth 3 times that amount? seriously, Ox is so under appreciated by some of you. When the rest of the team has gone through a bad slump he is one of the few shining lights that always put in a performance.

very true - as for the money they're all on wages that make me physically sick, so it's kind of 'so what'? for me

This. It is almost like some people on here doesn't work at companies where their wages go up as longer they stay there. o_O

Nothing Wrong With Me
Before this season, Ox's longest run in the team was 7 games. I remember reading that before the season started and thinking, all he needs is a run and things will start to click. After Alexis, I would say Ox has been our best player this season, why on Earth would we consider selling him. Even if he does want 100k per week, the cost to buy a replacement would be far larger than any salary. Sell Campbell, Welbeck, Gibbs, Jenks sure, but not Ox.

What do you mean how did Sp**s do it? They looked at what we did and are doing exactly the same thing.

Move to a new stadium - check
Build a team of young players to get you through that period - check
Have them on low wages so you can afford to pay of the stadium - check
Stay in the top four - check

Those are the positives, but because they are Sp**s and the darlings of the media, all the negatives are ignored.

- they will spend an entire season at Wembley meaning that every team that plays them will feel they are in a cup final and subconsciously raise their game. Not to mention they have been rubbish on that pitch anyway.

- that will lead to potentially dropping out of the top four.

- their players will have their wages doubled and will be poached just like ours were.

-Paying off the stadium means they will be restricted in the transfer market.

-Their manager can also be poached.

- let's not forget that coming close to winning something isn't winning something.

Good post, I made a similar one in the Let's all Laugh at Spuds thread.

They're just 06-13 Arsenal 2.0. Everyone thinks they're a club on the up, as did we. Hoping their players will all develop together and dominate for years to come. If only life was so simple.

What company do you work for - can you give me a recommendation?

Companies will adjust wages for inflation and merit increases for good performance (additional 3-10%) but we're talking 65K p/w to 100K p/w which is a 35% increase in salary. That's akin to an analyst going up to senior manager in my world. What has Ox done to deserve such a promotion?

Talk of 100K p/w being due to "inflation" is rubbish.

Comparing regular jobs to sports salaries never works. Sporting salaries make no sense in the real world.

That's not even a reason. This isn't a Government agency where you have pay scales determined on how long you've been there for. Lindgard is on 100K p/w because Man United generate ridiculously high revenues and can afford to have players of that caliber on those wages.

@Gooner Zig

How about, maybe you let Arsenal worry about how much they can pay their players in wages? Aren't you the one who is always saying we have more money than we are showing?

100k is the new 50k. You should just look how much more money Arsenal are making than few years ago. This is the reality with top sport clubs today.

3rd contract Ox is going to sign. He is on the way up and has been doing well. Attach interest from multiple rival clubs in the league. Easily worth 100k per weeks in todays climate.

Completely different valuations in football though , much more emphasis on the potential side , marketable product that pays itself not to mention , higher demand for players like Ox.

Analysts are pretty much in constant supply :)

Arsenal Quotes

An Arsenal fan, when you finish fourth, will say, “Hey, we’ve been in the top four for twenty years. We want to win the league!”. They don’t care that Manchester City or Chelsea have spent 300 or 400 million euros. They just want to beat them.
But if you finish fifteenth two years running, they will be happy if you finish fourth after that.

Arsène Wenger
