Why are people so high on Dembele? His numbers at Celtic are far from impressive and he isn't even an indisputed starter at Lyon right now. Seems to be more hype than substance.

    Moussa from Lyon.

    Crap from The Daily Express.

However, CIES came out with their new list of transfer valuations for players under 20 the other day and Guenzouzi is the 2nd most valuable U-20 in the world right now. He is, indeed, valued at £60 million. Only Sancho is rated above him.

Moussa an upgrade on Lacazette?
Have you seen him play this season?

We should probably try to keep our good players imo.

    I concur.

These are just stupid clickbait rumors anyway. Lacazette isn't going anywhere unless for some reason he decides he wants to go. If Barcelona or Real Madrid had wanted him they could have bought him before Arsenal did. At this point they're going to be looking for players younger than 28 to rebuild their attacks.

There is no point in selling him for the sake of £70m.

It’s like going 7 steps backwards and then signing Fraser and Neres to go 4 steps forwards.

Not only that but why break up a potentially deadly strike partnership with Auba and Laca. They’re best mates, you keep them both here no matter what.

We can recoup more than enough by selling the likes of Mustafi, Jenkinsons, Monreal, Xhaka, Özil, Mikky, Elneny, Kolasinac.

I mean Christ there’s at least 100m just sitting there that isn’t good enough for our side.

The only selling we gotta do is sell Lacazette the idea that this club is actually going somewhere.

Who can he look to in this current team that gives him the confidence we are heading places in the near future?

We need this EL trophy now and a big summer window.

If we don’t win the EL and get CL football most of the squad stays and average additions are made. It’s huge.

His numbers at Celtic were very good, especially his first season. Second season he had a few injuries but still put up decent numbers and scored in the big games. His numbers at Lyon are very good. Important goals at important times. Has he struggled, yes. But the quality is clearly there. He is stepping upto a higher league but also a less physical league which takes away from one of his main strengths.

I could maybe have gotten on board with the logic when Sven was here. As of right now we have no true DOF, we don't know how much of a hit our scouting and recruitment has taken with Sven's departure and the only evidence of Emery and Raul's competence(or lack thereof) in the transfer market thus far is the almost hilariously bad loan of Suarez. So then the question becomes whether you want to cash in on a player whom you know performs for you in the hopes that people who have not exactly shown themselves to be great recruiters can gamble on some players who may just as easily turn out to be a Xhaka or Mustafi as a Torreira or Guendouzi. No thanks. We aren't in a position to be taking those sorts of risks right now.

From what I understand upgrade means he is better than Lacazette. Lacazette's last season in Lyon resulted in 28+3. Dembele has 13+5 this season. Same amount of games but ~600 minutes less for Moussa.

In EPL Lacazette has this season 13+10 with ~700 minutes more than Dembele. Last season 14+5 with ~400 minutes more than Dembele this season in Ligue 1. EPL is the best league in the World.

So he is not an upgrade yet. That is clear trolling. Seems potential though.

And how do you know he will cost 50 million dealing with Aulas? When Lacazette cost 53 million euros after many goal rich seasons in Lyon, but Dembele being younger? With prices going up? He has contract until 2023. Lacazette had maybe 2, not sure.

If the 45m transfer budget reports are true then we can probably not afford having 100m locked in a position where we can only play one of Laca/Auba ideally. That money is better spent elsewhere.

We can play with 2 striker tactic. Also top teams need at least 3 good strikers anyway. We have now 2 proven ones. Also we need rotation.

It makes no sense to sell either when we have been lucky to get both to come and they get along great.

They even salute each other / celebrate together when one of them is on the bench and the other scores. As an example you can imagine Ibrahimovic being on the bench when other striker scores.

And if Auba/Laca then get hurt, who do we have as striker? Welbeck is leaving. We spent years having no depth in that position. Now that we have it we should keep it. We'd have to buy a CF if we sold either Auba or Laca, so we'd be putting money right back into that position.

Most managers these days, including Emery, prefer to play with one striker. Emery prefers to play in a 4231 formation and Auba on the wing isn’t ideal for this.

There’s no top teams with 3 good strikers. Most top teams have one good striker and a couple wide forwards who can fill in as a striker like a son, mane etc. No top team in the world have two good out and out strikers like we do.

Juventus has Ronaldo and Mandzukic. United Lukaku and Rashford. As some examples.

But with 3 I meant good. Not top strikers. First one is usually top. Third one has to be someone like Welbeck or like you said winger like Son.

I don't see 2 top strikers being bad thing at all. We have more funds and much wages freeing this year. Selling Lacazette under 100 million makes no sense.

If Suarez, Kane, Firmino gets hurt then their wide forwards step up and play as a striker. Their back ups are Kevin-Prince Boateng, Llorente and Origi, not a 60m Auba/Laca.

We don’t have to replace Auba/Laca, that’s the point, we just have to buy actual wide forwards who can fill in when necessary. We should increase the quality in other positions before we think of serious squad depth like a 60m back up striker, we’re not City.
