I don't know why people suddenly are counting money saved on wages as a transfer fee. Villa gave us £0 for Chambers. Any player we bring in to replace him will have to paid so no saving there anyway.

This is the problem right here. Players naturally don't want to take a pay cut, and other clubs, particularly non PL clubs, don't want our mid-table at best players when they're on champions league level wages.
