Ramsey left, we're replacing him for £3M a year.

Well, Ramsey wasn’t the reason we couldn’t compete with Liverpool and City, or even Sp**s. So yeah we can replace him but that’s like replacing a wiper on a car with a flat tyre.

Not sure how I feel about this and it’s no slant on Ceballos. We’re in desperate need of bolstering the defensive side of our game. It’s literally the reason we aren’t in the CL.

Players like Ceballos aren’t going to reduce the likelihood of going to anfield and getting banged 5-1, conceding 60 goals in 38 games or having a bottom 3 away record over 2 seasons.

Offensively we are also in desperate need of width. Centrally, Xhaka who’s awful defensively won’t be benched for him nor will Özil, so guess I’m struggling with understanding the purpose of it unless Emery switches to a 3 man midfield (which he should do in my opinion).

Weird to conclude after all the above that I’m happy we’ve got a quality player, and I have no doubt he’ll put in some star turns.

It's hard not to disagree with this, but even if you put aside our poor defenders the team as a whole cannot defend, that needs to be addressed. There were times last season where we would have 5 defenders and two in front of the defence and teams would still find space in and around our box.

I'm not expecting a masterclass in defence but we are probably one of the worst teams in the league defending collectively, even if we had parked the bus/played safe in one of them last few away games and got a point of two we would have finished top four.

I mean he isn't going to be the only player we buy, its a process, he is needed.

Quite right. I never concerned myself with Sp**s and Liverpool until they acquired two managers who were specialists in off-the-ball play.

Again, I welcome Ceballos, but given the terms of his transfer etc I’m somewhat ambivalent about the overall difference he alone can make to our non aesthetic fortunes.

I have exactly the same concerns. Seems like we are not adding too much pace, power or defensive mindset into the midfield. We were dominated during the run in by midfields below us in the table.

The hope is a three man midfield clicks. Guess that would be the Spanish kid, Xhaka & Lucas. Similar setup that Sari had at Chelsea.

Welcomed most definitely. Needed?

Needed is an upgrade on Mustafi/replacement for Kos, Xhaka, our full backs, and wingers.

The process has 2 weeks left.

Big **** Emery needs to show some mercy. This is how he got this deal over the line.

*Emery picks up the phone and starts calling Ceballos...*

BDE: Good ebening Dani, Mr Emery here, would you like to play for Arsenal?

Ceballos: Yes of course. Can't even believe you actually personally called me. It will be an honour.

BDE: okay, see you soon then.

Meanwhile at Tottenham.

*Pochettino is sitting in his office, picks up the phone, starts calling Ceballos, he picks it up..*

Pochettino: To dare is to do!

Ceballos: what?

Pochettino: sorry Dani, Mauricio Pochettino here, those words are our clubs's motto, powerful words indeed.

Ceballos: oh it is you Pochettino, thought it was a random maniac, or worse, a Catalan dog. How are you?

Pochettino: I'm good. Listen I have an exciting proposition for you. Do you want to play for Sp**s?

*silence....then line goes dead*

Pochettino: hello? Dani? Dani?

*his assistant enters his office*

Perez: boss what happened?

Pochettino: the phone just stopped working again, wouldnt that be a typical spursy thing? We build a billion pound, state of the art stadium, yet the bloody phone in my office doesn't work. The exact same thing happened when I tried to call the Saliba kid. Now please fetch me another phone, I need to make an urgent call to Sessegnon.

Perez: sorry boss, as per your instructions, this is the only phone we have.

Pochettino: what? What did I say?

Perez: you felt having too many phones in the building only build egos.

Pochettino: oh yeah, I remember, I was right, no? That's why we are still humble, grounded. It's the way forward.
