The fact that Arsenal dreaded Kante's arrival would supposedly stunt his "growth" as a player is criminal enough.

He's got aggresssion & the physicality but without the footballing brain to put those attributes to his benefit.

That's not a fact mate, that's a presumption based on some dodgy reports from the media.

Perhaps, but much like everything reported by the media despite the veracity, there is a kernel of truth to it.

He use to be decent and was putting in performances far better than any we've seen this season tbf.

But we've outgrown him and if we hadn't failed in the previous transfer windows we wouldn't have needed him in the first place. Struggle to think of situations were I'd be happy to see him start.

He may have played well he is bad average footballer and there is only limit what better footballer, your team mates can mask it. It was always going to show sooner or later with Coquelin that he can't play at top level.

He didn't even try against Munchen.

nobody is saying he is not an average player but last season when he was playing well and earlier this season he was not ****. He did the job he was asked to do, make tackles, stop pretending like prior to later this season he has been giving terrible performances. He is not ramsey that has been given chance upon chance and played badly. Coq was good last season and started this season playing well, he has clearly hit a bad patch, so has mustafi , who also started the season well.
All this revisionist bull crap is getting out of hand, we were happy when he was recalled from charlton and saved our asses, now ppl acting like he is the worst thing to ever happened to football. The whole team is not playing well, including the so called star players.

Ive been calling him average since day one and Cazorla and Coquelin midfield too. Not a fan.

And yeah he did solid job when he first came back, but the problems with him was obvioud even then. He is very limited player and tip clubs dont play with midfielders like Coquelin.

He deserve all the stick he is getting now. He has been terrible for last few weeks.

oh he has i am not disagreeing but he is not responsible for us losing the last match. Plus i am not gonna pretend that the way we are set up tactically helped him. Last season he had a different role to the one he hs been asked to play this season. Same with mesut ozi, which partially explains his form. Teams with midfielders worse than coq have managed to beat us.

Not sure how much its a drop in his individual form but rather the slight change in role & partner.

Without Santi their is now responsibility on him to move the ball forward, be involved in the short passing game & create where the likes of Xhaka, Ramsey & Ox are more limited than Santi. His passing stats have always been good for a DM & no different his season.

Defensively the work is more equally shared without Santi.

In this formation & without Santi partnering we no longer need a ridiculous defensive work rate but a little more quality on the ball... If we lose Özil & his 70 passes per game its going to be even more of an issue.

I could still see a future for Coquelin starting in other formations. Say an all action 4-3-3 playing behind two of Jack, Ox & Ramsey for example. He just needs to be allowed to do what he does best.

Maybe Wenger should play him at RM against Sutton.

Who knows if he turns out to be Gattuso mk II.

Limited footballer, always was always will be. Still, he is nowhere near being as bad as people make him.
Once again, its managers job to use limited players in a system where all of his limitations will be hidden.
As someone mentioned the perfect example the ther day, John Terry. Top defender, come new manager and new system and he is rubish over night. Change of system once again, with new manager, and he is top class again.
its that simple

Why so serieuse?
He works well only with Santi. Will be interesting to see him with Wilshere whose a lot closer to Santi in style.
