I can't watch your video, is not allowed in my country because the one who uploaded is pro Brexit and no one outside Britain should watch it.

It's the 5-0 game we lost at City, who scored 4 goals out of 5 from 3 crosses and a cut back.

He wasn't good enough for city, if he were he wouldn't be leaving the team. Second thing, city play very different to us, the don't cross balls and go only for set pieces goals. We play a lot of high crosses, so we would be doing better with a tall, strong and good striker in the air.

City play loads of crosses and Jesus has about 20 headed goals for them with exceptional heading technique.

Jesus is expected to leave Manchester City and is not short of options, with Mikel Arteta’s side currently in the lead to secure his signature, according to Brazilian journalist Rodrigo Oliveira.

Many top clubs are on Gabriel Jesus, but the one in pole position is Arsenal,” Oliveira said.

“The player wants to leave Manchester City. Jesus is very close to signing with the Gunners, he is very suited to English football and wants to stay in England and Arsenal want to make a good offer, so Arsenal will probably take on Gabriel Jesus, who lost space with Brazil in the recent months.

“Many players have overtaken him in the hierarchy [national team], which is why he wants to stay in England. At the same time, Arsenal are ready to make a great offer, perhaps even for €50-60m and are in pole position.”

Hope we get this wrapped up. Pretty impressive if we manage to convince a player or this calibre to join.

Nonsense. You're talking about the most competitive team in the world the past 5 years, playing under one of most picky and cutthroat managers of the game in Pep. Players go from world beaters to surplus within a month in that team. One month Sterling is a baller, the next he doesn't get a sniff of game time. Bernardo goes from a squad player to getting shouts for being the best player in the league.
Jesus has always been relied upon by Pep. He is his go-to guy in big games. When **** got real this season, he called upon him for the run-in.

"Ready to make an offer FC" strikes again.

The Athletic did a comparison of all our striker targets. I can’t post the whole thing because of the character limit so here’s the Gabriel Jesus part.

The first thing to say about Gabriel Jesus is that most of his football last season did not come as a centre-forward. With Manchester City often deploying a ‘striker-less’ system, the 25-year-old Brazil international carved out a role for himself on the right of their attack.

positions_gabriel_jesus_2021-22-1024x1024.png

Consequently, the smarterscout pizza chartbelow compares him to his positional peers on the right-hand side.

Given that Bukayo Saka plays out there, it’s unlikely Jesus would regularly be asked to fill that berth if he swaps the Etihad for the Emirates. Rather, he would be coming to Arsenal hoping for game-time in his preferred position as a centre-forward, which would help him keep hold of that role with the national team going into the World Cup this winter.

Nevertheless, looking at his output last season from the right-wing, you can see how much he contributed to City’s attack (xG from shot creation rating: 87 out of 99), and just how well he kept possession (ball retention ability: 88 out of 99).

Similarly, his work rate off the ball will certainly be attractive to Arteta.

Check out Jesus’ defensive ratings, and you see just how above-average he was out of possession last season compared with his positional peers.

Looking at his shot map, his shooting locations obviously reflect his frequent deployment out on the right.

His goals, however, came when popping up in more central areas.

That is partly a function of City’s style — many of their goals come from exploiting half-spaces and cutting the ball back, and as a wide player, Jesus is not ideally placed to feed off such chances.

A non-penalty xG of 0.48 per 90 minutes is nevertheless very good — the 10th best in the Premier League among players with over 500 minutes’ game time. This shouldn’t be a huge surprise, given that he’s playing in a hugely productive City side.

What might provide some concerns for Arsenal fans is that Jesus has been scoring at a rate below that, suggesting his finishing has not been especially efficient.

There is a bit of a trend here: aside from 2020-21, Jesus has undershot his xG in each of the past four years.

Arsenal will be hoping that if he is the man they sign, Jesus can become more clinical.

One quality Jesus does possess is the ability to get shots off.

That’s a challenge for City’s attackers, who frequently face the massed ranks of a deep-set defence. When Jesus receives the ball to feet in the box, he’s often operating in a crowd.

Fortunately, he has quick feet.

Here, against Wolves, he was faced with another compact defensive unit.

In this situation, he feints to shoot twice with his right foot before turning infield and sending an effort past the post with his left.

He is then able to look up and slide a great pass to Bernardo Silva. The finish is exceptional, and there aren’t many players who could pull it off — but Jesus’ work in the build-up is good nonetheless.

It is the work Jesus puts in when his team are without the ball that could make him particularly appealing to Arteta. Both City’s Pep Guardiola and Brazil counterpart Tite have described him as the best pressing forward in the world — and the defensive scores in his pizza chart above show just how effective he can be.

Here is one example of it, against Chelsea.

Jesus makes a good counter-press on international team-mate Thiago Silva, then shows quick feet to play a back-heel pass to Phil Foden.

Foden plays in Jack Grealish, who gets a shot off on goal.

What’s most impressive is that this action took place in the final eight minutes of a game City were already winning. Could Lacazette, now 31, produce that kind of physical intensity at that stage of a match?

He would be a top signing. Won’t need to settle and can hit the ground running. His very versatile and can play anywhere across the top. He’ll obviously play CF for us and can net us 20+ goals a season also a very big Brazilian connection at Arsenal.

Hope we get this done. His on £80k a week at City - from what I’ve read anyway.

So wages not a problem. Just down to him and whether he believes in the project here at Arsenal. If I’m Jesus im looking at this squad and thinking “you know what this Arsenal side can get CL football next season with me here and another key signing”

That's like 4 or 5 heads goals per season?
From the 58 goals he has scored in the PL alone 10 have been headers. Or around 17% of his goals.

Richarlson another player people have been mentioning has 48 PL goals and 11 headers. 22% of goals headers.

Most of you wouldnt want to sign this guy if he wasnt linked to us. Its the same with Hickey.
That's a load of rubbish. Jesus is a top premier league player entering his peak. We are lucky he wants to stay in England and the other clubs aren't prospects for him.

As for Hickey I've never seen him play and if he isn't good enough for the starting 11 I'm not bothered about him. We should be looking at first 11 players only meaning those currently starting drop down to the bench.

Do you think a 1.75m player who is relatively weak is going to be dominant in the air? Do you think Virgil would be afraid of him in a corner? Just be serious.

Firstly I didnt say whether his stats were good or not. I wasn't using them to support the idea he's good in the air. I merely pointed out that 17% of his PL goals have been headers. So no need to get mouthy with your last bit.

Secondly a players ability to score headers isn't just from corners. It's from second phases or open play too. Movement, timing etc so while Jesus may not outjump VVD in a 50/50 header he may have the ability to outjump Robertson or TAA at the back post.

Thierry Henry our greatest ever player scored something like 6/7 headers in the PL. He was almost 1.90. Height doesn't always equate to aerial ability and goal threat with your head.
