“xxxx is shxt on the ball, we need iniesta, xavi, Spanish technical toddler etc” isn’t sound assessment, so yes we people disagree I’m afraid.
Learn to read.
Sacrifice all the midfield controlling to generate possession and chances for the team, sacrifice the gap leaving behind when booming up. Just to go for glory. Do you know how much worse off as a team to have that? When your team could have so many more chances created if you are sitting there in the midfield area controlling the midfield instead.
A big weaknesses of willock is the lack of general play involvement (which is the strengths of ESR). Instead of bombing forward (or running back), he should stay close to the ball. He should show up in space close to the ball, constantly providing passing options for his teammates, to be involved a lot more in the buildup/passing/possession play.

And this.
The more you create, the more your team will score. Taking a creative player out of the equation, and replaced with a player that can only scores goals is making the team worse off. Your team will score less in total.
Is this not basically meaning the same thing that he has posted?
If you don’t count willock’s goal, his midfield play was a 5.5/10.

I would rather having a Cazorla type, 9/10 midfield play, even if he has no assists/goals, the team will play so much better, we will have so much more chances created.

Our team is shxt at maintaining possession and creating chances. We need more technical players. If you have a huge liability in the build up play, like ramsey, your team will suffer in both attacking and defending. The only good thing is that this type of players scores a few here and there, but that’s it. They sucks up a hell lot of possible chance creation/build up possibly that will eventually leads to more supplies for the attackers.
Whoever liked your post, you are a bunch of bias xxxx.

People are rewriting history. I hate Arteta more than anyone here. But he didn’t do willock wrong. He rarely did well for us and was usually a ghost in midfield. Before he was loaned out no one was against it or was calling for him to get mind. I swear if nketiah go out on loan next season and has a golden spell people will cry the manager never gave him chance and he should have started games for us.
How many times should people repeat this on here? He was repeatedly started as attacking midfielder and winger while he was more suited to central midfield. Clearly better than the clowns Ceballos and Elneny.

How?
Yes, he scored a few. He made some good tackles.

But he doesn’t involve in any of the midfield general passing play. He does not offer passing option appearing in space for his teammates. He is not there when we need the build up play. He does not create anything or help maintaining possession.

He is good making runs attacking, but we don’t need midfielders to do the attacking, we need them to be creating.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?

Well, that's the case with all the young players, and it's up to the manager to figure out how to balance the team, but we should at the same time accept the fact that the performances of senior players weren't any different.

I can't digest some decisions where we bin young players while at the same time we keep all the deadwood on our books. Won't go too much into names, every fan should know by now which players you can count on and which ones are stealing a living at the club, but it's a pattern that we've accepted sometime after 2010 when the focus shifted from young talent to mediocre seniors on high wages.

How many did Ceballos and Elneny create?

Central midfielder loool. He is not a central midfielder nor does he play there for Newcastle. He has in 1058 mins of pl football completed 210 passes. The goals are masking his inability on the ball and once this purple patch of goals is done. People will turn on him. He offers very little on the ball

Two things can be true. El neny and ceballos are better passers, have better work rate and win more balls than willock and they still not good enough. I’m just saying they are better central midfielders than willock. He completed 19 passes a game. The other 2 has better positional sense and el neny has 93% pass completion, while ceballos has 87%. Willock has 77%. And he has 0 assists with 0.56 expected assists. Ceballos has 2.80 expected assists

look past the goals you see a player who don’t know the position and adds little to keeping possession, creating or defending. He makes good runs to the box and some goals has gone in for him

Newcastle doesn't have possession over 40% in any of the recent matches. It's mostly in lower 30s. What kind of passing stats do you expect here?

Anyone can do what Elneny does. It’s not hard to pass the ball 5 yards sideways.
Did I say he is anywhere good enough to play for us? No. But at least he is there in the midfield, doing those basic easy passes. Maybe he is shxt, he only deserves a score of 1/100 by doing that. But at least that is a 1/100.

Willock would have bombed forward, disappeared in the midfield when we need him there to do the build up. Disappeared means he is not even doing anything work there, that is a 0/100.

That is the issue. Those kick and rush team could hide his weaknesses. We are not a relegation/lower leagues team. We are not a Pulis’ kind of team that plays boring football. (I know we are kind of boring since 2013...but we should not be. Therefore, we need less of these players. We are the Arsenal. We play the best football in the world. That’s how it was, and how it should be.)

At least they try to, although they are not good enough. Willock doesnt even want to try creating, he skipped all that.
So on one hand, we have Willock who is 21 years old and scoring every game for Newcastle. But you say he is not good at creating even though he was not given a consistent run in midfield here. On the other hand, you have Ceballos who has neither scored goals nor has created anything. But you prefer playing Ceballos over Willock because "he atleast tries". Great logic there.

Last season in 1022 mins he completed 298 passes. El neny this season in 1370 mins completed 767 passes. When he was here he didn’t participate in much of the build up. This is why I call him the ghost
