Yeah, I was surprised that both are staying as well. Though you have to admit it might partially be due to the fact that Gerrard's price is probably way too high for anyone, bar Madrid or City, who don't really need him.

Are these investors that are looking to take over going sugar daddies?

Gerrard has always had a great range of passing, it was just a lack of discipline and overzealousness that made him inadequate as a playmaker. By playing deeper, he'll have to become more reserved and going by his performances since being dropped further back, he seems to have learnt his lesson. Also, he'll need to keep his forward running to a bare minimum, and if he manages to do that, I expect him to re-establish himself as a central midfielder. Only, now possessing the maturity which he didn't have as a young'un.

I think they're big ifs and maybes. He wasn't exactly young when he was first moved further forward (07-08 season?) so I don't think age will help. If you move Gerrard back, you put someone else in the hole, and while someone like Cole may be more creative, they won't get as many goals. Also, moving Gerrard back leaves them only one remaining central midfield berth, and Aquilani is not exactly suited to a more supporting midfield role IMO.

I suppose it all boils down to whether Gerrard can pull it off, which is ultimately a matter of opinion. The fact is though that Aquilani replaced Alonso as they didn't deem gerrard to be at his best as a playmaker (which I agree with).

I dont think that is the case with Gerrard mate

I dont think he wanted to leave but I think he was a) told about potential investment and b) he was impressed with Hodgson..

He isnt the type to move abroard......everyone who knows him will tell you that, and he wont play for another English club now....

Just had a text saying that Insua has joined Genoa

Dont know accurate it is

For Liverpool's sake I hope it isn't true

Insua is the second brightest young LB in the premier league behind our very own Gibbs. I thought he was going to dominate your spot for years to come, of course he was thrown into the deep end last season but now that Aurelio is back, he could sit on the bench and learn his trade. No need to sell him

Edit
I found a link but not sure about it's reliability

You expect him to be a world beater at 21?

He's not good enough now but give him a few years and he will be class

Insua isnt as good as Martin Kelly, and Kelly is 3 years younger

Is Kelly really a left back though?

I don't know much about the guy but I thought he was meant to be a future centre half. It's not often you find a 6'3" full back.

If he's already better than Insua at left back and that's not even his preferred position then he must be pretty decent.

When you walk
through the storm
hang your head down low
afraid of much more than the dark.
At the end of the storm
there's a great big mess
and to clean it all up is no lark.

Walk on through the wind.
Walk on through the rain.
Though your dreams died way back when.

Walk on, walk on
with your head in your hands
and you'll never win again.
You'll Never Win Again.

Nonsense, and you know it. If Kelly played an entire season as a first choice defender, you won't be looking at him as favourably, because his flaws would have been made apparent. It made absolutely no sense to sell the Argentine, given that you afforded him alot of game time and he was coming along nicely given his age. Although, it seems like the deal hasn't been concluded, yet. There's no reason why he couldn't steadily improve into a good LB for Liverpool. Besides, Kelly is predominantly a RB/CB and he's infact only one year younger than Insua.

Another good one, which could apply to several teams. Including, of course, Barce-loan-a.

Then, of course, there's, "Sign on, sign on, with a pen in your hand, and you'll never get a job." Of course, that was a whole lot funnier before my country's former fearless leader futzed up the world's economy.

From what I've read, West Ham has this one: "Crawl on, crawl on, with a knife in your back, and you'll never walk again."

Celtic fans sing the song better anyway.

Best Liverpool song, though, was against West Ham. To "La Donna e Mobile," the Hammers sang, "We've got Di Canio!" And the Scousers, taking advantage of their own criminal image, responded, "We've got your stereo!"

I dont know whats funny. They actually make a chance to win the title. They have a solid defence with some quality players like Gerrard, Cole and Torres.
