Player:Saliba
Can't see Özil changing his ways

Fantastic player but don't think he's ever really exhibited what Arteta is saying he wants.

Can’t wait until he is gone at this stage, past it physically and mentally...his presence also puts pressure on our manager, even though he is nowhere near the player he once was...hopefully we can sort out a loan until his deal is up.

Whoever offered him that contract should be tarred and feathered. They must have flipped their lid!

We'll never get rid of him, and good work Freddie!
The guy who offered him contract is at Ac Milan. We panicked we should have sold both Alexis and Özil in 2017 summer because one had no desire to stay and the other was asking for bigger contract. We'll need to do something with mesut it can't go on like this

Hindsight is 2020 but no reason we couldn't have sold them both, bought Aubameyang and someone else. I do agree we didn't want to be seen to lose key players

Keeping one has made us look more foolish tbh

Freddie was out of his depth, it was clear from the first team sheet when he played Willock at #10. He and Özil never looked a great match. No excuse for Özil’s behavior after getting subbed off against City but Freddie was at fault for the score line after ignoring the blueprint drawn up by MU on how to play against City.

If Arteta sets the team up well tactically and finds a way to play Özil to his strengths, and Özil agrees with his approach and buys in and does enough of the things Arteta asks of him, it could work very well.

Arteta has emphasized the importance of possession in his philosophy. This bodes well for Özil, who flourishes in a possession based system because his strengths - technique, movement, passing, patience - are highlighted. Incidentally it also works to Xhaka’s strengths.

This quote from the Athletic article gives me optimism that Özil and Arteta could work:

“He goes by the mantra that it is less tiring to play with the ball than without it. “If you keep the ball then the opposition will get tense and want to get aggressive,” he says. “This will force them to break out of their positions and this is when you expose the space. Patience — that’s the difference between a good player and a top player.”

Go back to the West Ham game, the only victory for Freddie in his brief tenure. Freddie played the team in a 4231 with Özil at #10. Fans were frustrated in the first half but Arsenal dominated possession and Özil was a big part of that, even though some viewed his contributions as “useless.” It paid off in the second half when WH got tired and began to lose their shape - the goals poured in.

Wow, just seen that Freddie clip. Love that from him. Done with this kind of behavior. Don't care how silky you can caress a ball sometimes.

Show your frustration on the pitch, by going the extra mile instead of throwing your toys out the pram like a man-child.

Very curious to see how Arteta handles this, but it looks like Freddie is on the same wavelength as him.

Was strange, that Xhaka had so much time but kept ignoring Auba. If it was Özil, Auba would have had a field day.

We would definitely have won with him on the pitch.

According to you the universe needs to revolve around Özil for him to be at his best. Ffs the Guy is finished, how can you not see this? He disrespected the club on numerous occasions yet people still support him, baffling tbh.
