You know who I hated....Sessegnon on Sunderland...we would be killing them at home but for the life us could not score and then they would get one attack and they would get a foul just outside the box and BAM GOAL for Sunderland...so glad they are relegated now lol and I think Sessegnon plays in a different league.

When I think of FK specialists in the PL - I think of Siggursdson & Eriksen...potentially Yaya, KDB, Rooney and Willian.

Edit! Not too long ago you could add Alex to the list for Chelsea and Luiz too I guess...Brazilians can really strike them!

I'd have to see how many of them Özil took himself, but I've seen him take so many terrible corners since he took over the duty.
I can personally guarantee you that they are very good. Not over-dramatically good or anything. It just goes to the right place.

Even Ox is good at corners...so is Xhaka. But Özil is spectacular at freekicks, espcorners.

Example:
Gabriel goal:
Welbeck:
Giroud: Of the nine goals that Özil assisted Giroud on, four were from set pieces that involved lofted balls into the box and another three were from traditional crosses. (stats courtesy paininthearsenal)

You must be new here? People tend to create their own arguments so they can win them, aka 'Strawmanning'.
you're taking it to ethereal levels now.

Thank you...not sure why the thread was turning. Lets keep this to direct shooters for free kicks. Not talking about set pieces or corners.
We might get one direct freekick per game from good positions. which is really not worthwhile. same goes for long shots.

The only time I would argue about the FK taker would be if we still had someone like RvP or Podolski, and still some one else took it.

No.

Do people actually watch us on here or just go off what Jamie Redknapp said on the telly this week?

Özil has a fantastic deadball delivery on him. Xhaka has taken over this season and already has 2 assists from our first two matches.

Bearing in mind we've got the shortest squad in the league and our gameplan doesn't revolve around pumping balls into the box, I think this is quite impressive:

Goals from set-pieces (PL)
2014/15: 3rd most scored
2015/16: 7th most ..
2016/17: 8th most ..

Our record at defending set-pieces is even more impressive. We conceded the fewest goals in the league from set-pieces last year, 3rd fewest the year before.

Neither fits the narrative of Arsenal/Wenger being tactically naive pushovers though, so don't expect them to get much airtime.
Irks me so much when pundits talk about this, shows how much they know. Can't be bothered to even glance at facts before spouting sh*t.

Did you see Redknapp on Sky after the Liverpool-Watford game?

They were analysing Liverpool at set pieces and showed a comparison with the other top teams. Ours were the second best but Redknapp took one look and decided we were second worst instead.

Went on a rant about how he's not surprised to see our stats because we're another team that aren't organised and can't defend set pieces

Jamie Redknapp is living in 2006, quite sure the stats when we was the second worst team during defensive set piece was from that period.
Bould came in and we saw improvements on that area

I loved last weekend when Sky Sports provided the stats on teams who concede the most from set pieces. Statistically, we ranked amongst the teams who conceded the least from corners.

They legit never even touched on it. They probably couldn't believe it themselves . So many media-made cliches about Arsenal, it's tiresome.

The whole "fourth place is like a trophy" narrative was driven by the media. And so everyone believes we as fans accept/are happy to settle for fourth when it's simply not the case.

Ahh well, we'll have to just keep proving them wrong.

Arsenal Quotes

When I arrive at the gates of Heaven the Good Lord will ask "What did you do in your life?"
I will respond "I tried to win football matches."
He will say: "Are you certain that's all?"
"Well, that's the story of my life. It is not easy to win football matches, you know."
