Agree. Trippier was clearly a standout player from the Burnley side that got relegated. He’s done very well to become a starting player at Sp**s though.

Was he always going to develop and become this good or has Poch allowed him to become the player he is today? Don’t know but looking at what we’ve done with Chambers you may have to credit Poch.
Sp**s had four good FB's and Tripper has been allowed to develop properly in the shadow of Walker-a bit like Clichy behind Cole. It's a whole new game as first choice so time will tell.

Sp**s defence is very suspect once you beat their press. Plus they're playing a huge number of games on a gigantic pitch at Wembley + CL football and Cup games. They'll drop off physically after February. We'll just have to keep pace with them till then. Our relatively easier fixture list from March onwards would give us a great shot of moving past them.

Fatigue is our only hope of catching them. Currently, they look like the only side equipped to keep pace with City.

It's not what Wenger thinks. It's how the players handle the situation. If you're a young player at Sp**s, having a bad game doesn't lead to the same scrutiny it does at Arsenal. At Arsenal you'll be spoken about every which way from the papers to TV to online. No matter how much players say that they only care what their managers think, those things bother you. It's a much different profile to being a player at Arsenal than it is to being one at Sp**s.

I don't think the gulf is that big.

I think it depends on the nature of the performance. Nobody is going to pay attention, no matter the club, if a young, up and coming player puts in middle of the road performances.

It's about those things which make a player stand out, for better or worse.

Put it this way, if Sanchez, the one who plays for Sp**s, put in a similar performance to Holding against Liverpool, where Mane tormented him, he'd be lampooned by media, fans, and opposition fans as not being suited to English football or whatever other cliche.

I remember watching Chambers at Southampton, where he played predominantly at RB, and thinking to myself that he looked very well protected or secure and was tasked with a role which had been explained to him in a detailed manner.

He was just thrown into the deep end with us, and, if I'm to be honest his career with us hasn't really recovered since.

Have to admit Sp**s look the deal again this season, while they will have some kind of matches they don't look that good, Pochettino has done a tremendous job in turning them in to title contenders / champion league spots.

Arsenal Quotes

A player's true character is in how he plays and not in his social life. You can hide your real personality in your social life, You cannot on the field.
