Would you be in favour of reducing the Premier League to 18 teams?

We'd just get smacked every year but the prize money would be crazy.

This would effectively turn the CL into a rich man's Europa league right while running alongside domestic football I'm guessing?

Football is no longer for the fans it's now for the highest bidder. The reality now is that football is now a cutthroat venture. Romanticism is gone.

A lot of football fans are now disillusioned with football.
A bit like a small town girl that goes to Hollywood and us unable to get a role and end up in porn.
Football money men now treat fans with disdain.
I hope this money bubble will burst one day.

18 teams? The big 6 from England, Barca, Real, Atletico, Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, PSG, Bayern, Borussia Dortmund. Who else could they have?

This is basically like a feck you to the fans.
In as much as I'd like Arsenal to be back competing with the elite, but at what price.
It will ruin European league while essentially cementing the status of the elite

I'm not sure what happens to the CL if this happens, if there's 16 teams in it that would be a minimum of 30 matches per team.

Only 5 PL teams will be in it apparently, so whichever "big six" club misses out will probably be guaranteed a league title.

Sorry for being lazy and not reading up but this would mean that the teams would not compete in their national league?

Think it`s an awful idea. Playing the likes of Barca, Bayern, Inter etc regularly will mean it will lose some of its current appeal, like having your birthday every other week. Plus I would hate not playing the likes of West Ham, Villa, Newcastle etc, proper, traditional English clubs.

Another not needed idea just because there will be more money but football will lose so much interest.

For anyone wondering about the domestic league.

Although it states that a true breakaway isn’t a short term target, so long term who knows.

Will the revenue be shared equally or the big wigs will take the lion share?

There's £4.6bn in the pot so plenty to go around. :shivering:

I still don't believe this will happen though.

Maybe the big clubs are trying to extort more money out of UEFA?

Pretty sure in 2018 Football leak hacked the email of Bayern CEO and found out that he's been trying to woo top clubs around Europe to form a super league.
I think then UEFA was forced to make some guarantees for them and the plan was shelved.

I think UEFA will end up increasing TV money, participation and prize money. Everyone is happy once again until they aren't.

so as i understand they want to replace UCL with this? but only teams from top leagues in europe will be involved?

but that mean if clubs will stay play in their domestic league will have to play another 34 games because of this competition? ffs players will get destroyed the teams could end up playing near 80 games if you include cup games

It'll be yearly earnings, based on success in the competition I believe. But the founding members of the tournament will get "hundreds of millions" as a joining fee to start off.

I wouldn’t be so sure. TV companies would rather throw their money at a tournament where just the big teams play each other compared to what the Champions League offers. Most of the games in the group stages are **** apart from the odd glamour tie that gets drawn. The clubs will go wherever the most money is and this new tournament is likely to get a lot more money, especially at the start when it’s the new and shiny toy.

This will run alongside domestic leagues by the way. The Premier League clubs will want their cake and eat it. They aren’t going to throw away that cash cow.
