As of now, UEFA and particularly FIFA have the power and leverage to stop this breakaway movement. I am hearing that FIFA may ban players from those clubs to be in WC games. That could be a massive deterrent.
From a government standpoint, the French government is in support of UEFA. Germanyu may follow suit and if the EU opposes it, it may be DOA.
