Lad is going to be flogged off to Millwall on a loan, and thence never seen or heard from again...

Can't see that happening. There are too many games available for him to play in. Iwobi broke into the team by playing as a 10 in fa cup games. Nelson will have the opportunity to play in the league cup, Europa League and the fa cup. I am convinced he will break into the first team and probably force a change of formation midway through the season.

Kid is 17. He's very good but let's give him some time here. Talking about him forcing a formation change is a few steps too far. Can't wait for the comments about him needing a few loans in the lower leagues when he faces some physical difficulties.

Think a loan will be too soon for him. Another year with us in and around the first team training with the odd appearance on the bench will do him the world of good. Maybe a loan from January onwards. The experience of playing against men on a weekly basis is vital for development.

I'd keep him with the first team up until January giving him the Europa games and League Cup. Maybe minutes in games we are winning. If a loan is needed after January then get him to a team in Championship. I'd rather that than abroad for Reiss.

There's always one youth player that gets overhyped during preseason but Nelson has defiantly shown more than any of the previous failures.

Difficult to see where he could breakthrough with the new formation. Perhaps too inexperienced for the front three and too light defensively for WB. Hopefully he gets some EL minutes and then a Wilshere type loan either this season or the next.

There's no need to loan him, if he gets all the EL games then that's at least 6 games, say we play a couple of LC games and he could be playing around 10 games before Christmas.

Rashford didn't make his United debut until he was 18. If Reiss can get into double figures for games as a 17 year old that'd be fantastic.

You dont loan the best talent at the club when you have players like Sanchez and Özil in their last year here.

Imagine sending him to 2nd league loan for year followed by couple of injuries because of brutal tackles and then come back to learn from Theo Walcott and Lucas Perez of the world.

He is only 17. This season I think he trains with first team and keep improving at u-23 level hoping for first team debut which I think he get in EL or Carling Cup. His highest aim imo will be premier league debut but he will have to put in lot of hard work and get little bit lucky.

Even if he doesnt manage premier league debut this season that wont be terrible either. The kid has all the time in the world right now!

Hope our fans keep a level head with a talent for once.

He will be inconsistent and frustrating. He won't be a failure if he hasn't torn up the premier league by 20.

I think generally most fans keep a level head. We always talk about loaning players out. However sometimes there are exceptions.

We look at other clubs and are in awe when their youngsters are given a chance, but aside from Iwobi, Holding and Bellerin, we haven't given any youngster a chance since Gnabry. We used to be the team of choice for young players.

Nelson is an exception. He will be 18 in December. The same age Rashford broke through. All of this talk about him struggling physically is nonsense. He is easily strong enough, quick enough and clever enough to play in the first team. He obviously needs to be managed in terms of minutes but his age isn't an issue and neither is his experience.

Look at Dembele and Mbappe. Nelson has insane ball control. He has the quickest feet I have seen in a footballer for a long time. Not only that but he is so confident and aware of what he needs to do when running with the ball. Running with the ball is all about confidence. It's all about whether you can commit to an action knowing that if it doesnt come off you will look stupid. Nelson already has that and that's something that you can't coach.

There is literally no point in loaning him out. What is he going to learn training with championship players when he can train with Özil and Alexis everyday while still playing in Europe and the cup games.

Wenger is playing it down and we can all too, but when Nelson gets his chance, he will take it.

I Hope every one, especially the media, go easy on the hype of the lad. Overhype, too soon, can ruin a player.

Aside from Iwobi, Holding and Bellerin.

City have spent over a 100M to fill the squad positions those three hold in the last two windows and Arsène brought them through for next to nothing. A bit of perspective please. What club in the top 6 is bringing players through like that? Only Tottenham and us. Only reason United have Rashford is because of LVG, if Mourinho was their manager one year earlier he'd be playing for Accrington Stanley. Nelson is at the perfect club, playing under the perfect manager for him.

He's not overhyped. It's been known for a few years that he is the best young talent at the club. It was and still is just a matter of time (and physical development) before he gets a chance with the first team in PL.

As has been said, there is absolutely no need to loan him anywhere. Training with the likes of Özil (who has already adopted a mentor's role), Cazorla and Alexis etc will only speed up his development. Factor in the opportunities he'll have in the League cup, Europa league and FA cup, and he could possibly play 10+ first team games this season. More than enough at age 17.

We need backup for the wide forwards anyway, should be in the mix this year imo. And he can cover wingback if need be.

League is very weak
If Wenger is sold on a kid, he won't be loaned. Jack was loaned to Bolton but that was fitness related.

We just need to accept our club situation a little. We have some big talents coming through that need playing time and need a lot of understanding. A bit like Monaco with their talents...

Hard to see us winning anything soon. Another youth development project might be our best bet on winning the league in 4-5 years.

Arsenal Quotes

Don’t be scared to be ambitious. It’s not a humiliation to have a high target and to fail. For me, the real humiliation is to have a target and not to give everything to reach it.
