We were strongly linked last time, he would be a good signing as 3rd CB. Actually the CB quality we would have then would be great. I would be happy to see 3rd and 4th ie Alderweireld & Chambers stepping out in a PL game together, maybe not against the top 6 but they would be quality options.

We;re not meant to be looking for a 3rd choice CB, we're meant to be looking for a potential 1st/2nd choice CB. That's how you maintain competition for places.

And Alderweireld fits that bill. He could keep Per out if there was a slight dip in form. A DM and CF come before signing a WC CB, so you may have to be content with a £10m max signing as CB

Toby looks like he could be a top centre back, he has made a few bad errors for Atletico this year but I'd argue he's comfortably outperformed Vermaelen this year. If it wasn't for Godin and Miranda who I'd argue are better than Kos and Per he would be a nailed on starter.

As I'm also an Atletico fan it'd be a shame to see him leave as our first choice pairing are both approaching 30 but for Arsenal he could be a fantastic signing, his game's probably more suited to the Premiership.

Yeah he's definitely not a RB, but I thought he was pretty decent at CB tbh, the potential for good things is definitely there.
