His best position is cm not rb. Although listed as a dm he breaks forward and can run with the ball and is a good passer if he came he’d be our second best cm and should start alongside Partey

Don’t even know who this is but I’m all for a quality RB. I have a feeling the Tomiyasu signing will end in tears.

Not because he’s a bad player but because he will be found wanting if we ever play in a way that needs some attacking quality at fullback. Arteta really shouldn’t have been allowed to sign a specialist RB that basically isn’t a RB but it is what it is.

The more I look at our transfer business the more I think the Kroenke’s have well and truly decided to spend consistently. We’ll see I suppose.

You love predicting perfectly good situations are going to end in tears don’t you?

With Tierney & Tavares on the other side, I would also want a more attacking option for the right side.

That is a thing for future transfer windows. Adams could help two of our positions in need, in one player, without needing to haggle at all.

A big signing striker will be needed in the summer, so it will be interesting to see how we distribute our funds for DMF/CMF, ST, RB and possibly Winger positions.

Tomiyasu will be our 3rd/4th choice CB. Hopefully killing Holding’s and Mari’s Arsenal careers.

Heard he’s basically a RM these days? Has he been shunted out there just because he’s fast or is he not good enough in the middle of the park?

One of the Americans on the forum can come in and correct me, but pretty sure that Adam's is rated more highly than Musah in the US national set up.

Looks like he put a MOTM performance in against Mexico. He's basically like AMN, but younger and with more experience at a higher level - in the Champions League & for the US national team (obviously not the PL though). Think we could probably get a slightly better midfielder but he'd be a smart pickup to cover two positions and help with getting our squad size down. He looks like starting 11 quality though for sure.

Also if we go for a young midfielder, I'd rather not buy 100 million release clause Musah (contract until 2026), but rather someone like Gravenberch from Ajax, who is only 6 months older, and his contract ends 2023.

He is going to be a huge bargain with 1 year left in contract next summer, but there will be competition.

It’s cos he’s B L A C K and La Liga have yet to realise those people are capable of playing in midfield. We have to be patient. They’re still in the 90s.

As decent as he has been, he's been a panic buy. Bellerin was being offloaded for the better and Tomiyasu was being advertised around Europe like a piece of bread during a food shortage.

Can be a handy player down the line, though. CB in a two or three, defensive RB. Could end up some sort of cult hero at Arsenal.

As for Adams: Not a RB. He's as much a RB as Kimmich.

Tomiyasu is looking like a pretty handy panic buy if that's what he is. I'd argue that along with Ramsdale he's been the best purchase of the summer so far.

@Toby Andrl - what do you think of Adams from his performances in the Bundesliga? If his main position is midfield would he be a significant upgrade on AMN & Xhaka in your opinion?

Opportunistic maybe more than panic buy? He seems to be the tall athletic half CB half RB that Arteta wanted so I wouldn’t call it a panic buy.

I do wonder though, was he a planned upgrade or brought in cos Hector wanted out?

Adams is a fine and complete footballer who can play a number of positions but plays in middle of park. I am not a nationalist really but this US team is by leaps and bounds better than anything before. I dont know why Tuchel prefers German players who don't score to Pulisic. The guy just isn't a fan. The player of the bunch is Timmy Weah. Yes that Weah. The US is a side no one will want to play at the WC, they are very young and should qualify top of group.
