Minimum expectation - the Quadruple:

What's your maximum expectation?
Quintuple - throw Capital One Cup in, but I fear that one may be lost.

Is the league a forgone conclusion? City as we all know are very iffy, can murder teams when on point but injury problems and aging players mean that such performances are few far and between.

Chelsea have a relatively small squad of players and Mourinho has stuck to the same core of players while keeping rotation to a surprising minimum.

Courtois
Ivanovic
Terry
Cahill
Azpilicueta
Fabregas
Matic
Willian
Oscar
Hazard
Costa

All of those players with the exception of Willian (by virtue of a game) have started 20 or more games as of now. To contrast that with ourselves, only two of our players have broken past the 20 match threshold with those being Santi and Sanchez. This is obviously because of the constant injuries which have hampered our season which have sort of forced Wenger's hand in regards to rotation meaning the spread of games across numerous positions have been fairly even

Chelsea have also just suffered a demoralizing defeat in the Champions league where they looked completely shorn of any drive even when the opposition were reduced to 10 men, almost as if they expected them to simply capitulate which is something which you don't see with Mourinho sides, something more common in ourselves.

We are, as of now, 9 points behind Chelsea who have a game in hand.

Thoughts?

We'd probably have to win every single game and hope for a lot of help. Chelsea have a reasonably easy run in considering apart from us all the big games left are at the Bridge.

Not sure if this side is ready to end the curse against Mourinho although I'd love for it to happen. 2nd could be a very real possibility though.

Looking at their fixtures it seems unlikely, esepcially as we potentially have more games to play in the CL and FA Cup and they can solely concentrate on the league

Chelsea's remaining fixtures:-

Southampton - Home
Hull - Away
Stoke - Home
QPR - Away
Utd - Home
Arsenal - Away
Leicester - Away
Palace - Home
Liverpool - Home
WBA - Away
Sunderland Home

Realistically you could see them dropping full points against us away from home and at best a draw at home with Utd, Southampton and Liverpool which see's them drop at best 9 points which isnt enough given their game in hand and superior goal difference

Plus as mentioned already we would have to pick up max points and we have to negotiate a home tie against Pool and another trip to Old Trafford.

I'd give us a 25% chance of doing it - would be truly ecstatic but I think we will be left bemoaning poor performances earlier in the season when we had full backs playing CB

City on the other hand is more realistic with an away trip to Old Trafford and a home game on the final day of the season against Sp**s

I live in hope, and perhaps a little naivety :)

If we can get an early goal then its entirely possible, we ran Bayern close last year after a terrible first leg and Milan the year before.........surely we can go one better against Monaco?

or perhaps not

As it stands, I'd rather us forget the CL for this season and focus on the PL and FA Cup, where our chances are much more reasonable.

The quadruple? Are you serious? We're gonna win the quintuple.

FA Cup
Champions League
Premier League
Community Shield
World Club Cup

I think that should get Wenger the knighthood he deserves.

Not to mention that he basically would have created* roughly a third of the English national team: Welbeck, Walcott, Ox, Wilshere, Gibbs, Chambers and maybe Jenkinson.

*Other clubs assisted with the development of some of these players, but Wenger brought them together to win the quintuple prior to Euro 2016.

A Spanish level of dominance could be right over the horizon.

Arsenal Quotes

Robert Pirès was a fabulous player, world-class, and for a few years, before his injury, he was unquestionably the best left-midfielder in the world by far. He had incredible technique, he was smart, a finisher. He was a killer with a smile, the gentlest man in the world who suddenly drive the ball exactly where it was needed.
