Drogba re-signed for another two years until 2012. Terms aren't released but they are probably pretty substantial.

Aquilani is a good Alonso replacement. Wish we replaced players like that if we had to. Would have been a great Cesc partner.

Since when have Sky Sports been employing Bart Simpson as headline writer for their website?

From various US based football websites: Two PL matches are going to be shown on ESPN 2 this season, these matches are the Saturday at 7:45am Eastern Time and Monday at 3:00pm Eastern Time ones.

I really hope it is true, on the Setanata US these matches have been removed from their schedule so all thats needed is ESPN to confirm it.

The Championship began with a dull 0-0 at the Riverside. The Blades and Boro looked quite tentative and no decent chances for anyone. Great way to kick off the season

SS1 is showing a championship match, Coventry leading roy keane's Ipswich 2-1 with cov's 2nd goal being a cracking header.
Game's not bad. Will be followed by the comminuty shield between manU vs Chelsea. anyone watching that? Might give it a miss.

The minutes applause for Robson is a bit **** isn't it. Shows how ****ing pathetic EPL fans are in general that they can't be trusted to respect a minutes silence.

Lineup for both teams

Cech
Ivanovic Terry Carvalho Cole
Mikel Essien Lampard
Anelka Drogba Malouda

Foster
O'shea Ferdinand Evans Evra
Park Fletcher Carrick Nani
Berbatov Rooney

Weird selection from Ancelotti. Ivanovic ahead of Bosingwa? Oh and Evra hits the post, almost 1-0 to Chelsea

Didn't Anceloti want to sell Boswinga earlier in the summer? He must want a more solid defender rather than a good attacking fullback.

United 1-0 up now anyway. Nani with a soft enough goal.

1-0 to ManUre.. Nani scored with a cut-in from the right..

if Bosingwa was in the game instead of Ivanovic, he wouldnt have scored that goal.. and Cech made a sh*t dive for the ball as well.

and Ivanovic booked for taking down Evra right outside the box.. this guy has looked sh*t since they got him

Ivanovic is pretty poor. Looks like Ancelotti wants one full-back (Cole) playing high up and one primarily defending for balance.

Wonder how long til Drogba starts cheating now Chelsea are losing.

Re: English Football 2009-2010(incl. Pre Season)

Chelsea has largely looked sh*t so far today.. they were just ripped open again and Cech made a good save on a 1 on 1 with Park..

Drogba has had a couple decent runs, but other than the corner off the bar, everything has been right at Foster

John Terry is unbelievably overrated. He makes so many mistakes but just because the Sky team never bother mentioning them he manages to remain a great defender in the eyes of the idiots who don't have their own opinions and spout out Andy Gray nonsense.

he's gotten worse over the past 2 seasons.. i think his "all physical" style is catching up with his body.. he doesnt have great positional sense and isnt all that fast

So true - Carvalho has been mopping up his crap for ages. Very good player but overrated beyond belief.

Fletcher has turned into a very good midfielder - can see why Fergie picks him over Anderson.

yeah, Fletcher is quietly gone about being quite useful to ManUre..
