Guendouzi is fine, even if he doesn't turn into a top class midfielder one day, which is too early to say anyway, he could be a good squad player like Elneny.

This thread is abysmal and I'm just shocked at the amount of people underrating not just Guendouzi as a player in general (which is fair enough, we need to look at him long-term) but all of his four appearances for us individually. People blaming him for not defending in unison FFS when the entire team has been bankrupt defensively and just leaks goals and concedes chances left and right and in various manners. At the same time Guendouzi has been busting a lung in midfield, winning duels and the ball back, recycling possession, playing ambitious passes, harassing midfielders, beating pressers, not fearing anybody, being comfortably our best player on the pitch for his two first derbies at the top level. He's played like a complete midfielder, not a world class one of course, but we've not seen anybody do that for us probably since Vieira.

We should stop acting as if this team is well-oiled like a Guardiola's vintage Barcelona machine that Matteo is breaking, we lack cohesion everywhere and it is only our creativity breaking into the final third that has clicked so far and that was just in one game, and still not for the full duration (vs. Cardiff.) The kid wasn't convincing vs. Cardiff and he wasn't good at all vs. West Ham (looked lost when he had the ball in the final third,) but he has still managed to put most of our veterans to shame over these four games. That is including mistakes, because even then in possession he has actually been our safest player, bar maybe Torreira.

I'd pay no attention mate. Most of us can see him for what he's worth, compared to what we have in our midfield at the minute (dross) he actually looks half decent, although he still has a long way to go.

The majority of people slagging him off are Xhaka fans with an axe to grind. We've seen it in the Ramsey thread and it probably won't be long before we start seeing it in the Torreira thread.

Xhaka is a good player, so is guendouzi and torreira. The reason you see people criticising your boyfriend ramsey, is only because he is not good enough, nothing more than that.

Interesting, the Morocco manager travelled to London to try and convince Guendouzi to play for them over France. Could be an tough choice for him considering the MF talent already at France's disposal and the likes of Ndombele coming through

Guendouzi is the type to back himself to make it, has the potential to play for France, played for French youth teams last couple of years, think he’ll wait for France. Renard tried to get him to play for Morocco a year ago already, so I have to say from Morocco’s perspective I’m very happy with their proactive attitude. Won’t get them all, but plenty of (part) Moroccan fish in the sea, and the image of the national team has improved a lot! Guendouzi behind Belhanda and Ziyech after Boussoufa en El Ahmadi move on is just... would love the kid even more!

he's become more cautious nowadays. Both in his positioning and passing.

Playing a full 90 against a team like Vorskla at home will be good for him I think. We should really dominate possession, allowing him to express himself a bit better.

What happens if Elneny and Guendouzi play next to each other? It's an age-old question and nobody knows, do the birds fall from the sky? Does time stop? Is there a lot of hair and passes and that's about it? We'll see.

So so easy on the eye. Will earn himself a call to the national team soon. This was a relaxed game and it was so easy to see why Unai is persisting with him.

There is another aspect of his game that people don’t notice. He is a good tackler. If you check stats on the premier League app, he is app there with the ndindis and gueyes of this league so far this season.

I can’t help but dream about:

Iwobi.....ketia......Nelson

........Smith......Matteo.......AMN/ Torreira/zalaelem

.............................Mavrapanos..................

We're yet to see him alongside Torreira. The two of them seem to be on a different level technically to the rest of our midfield. I'd love to see a 3 of Torreira, Guendouzi and AMN someday.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?

Maybe in some away games against top teams, other than that we never need all 3 of them since they have similar skills and are not completely attacking oriented like Özil is. But the idea is good, they offer a lot of stability in defense and game control.

Hates Guendouzi for no reason
the goals for / against data piles up....somehow even though he seems to be a great player, if you compare the goals for/against data for the time he is on the field vs the time he is off the field, it suggests that he either is really unlucky for us, or he is disruptive.

Could be because of the fact that every time he’s substituted we go from having 0 DMs on the pitch to 1 DM on the pitch and vice versa.

You can see why Emery has so much faith in him and is likely trying to fast track his development.

Was at fault for the fk that got Brentford the goal, but was also bright for most of the match. Though Torreira also made him a bit better.

Love this guy even with stupid foul he gave away resulting a goal but he had great game passing dribbling holding the ball all look quite good. Some of his passing remind me of Sex fabregas and i love sex

Likely more disruptive than anything in total.

With more game time he will iron out those disruptions, its clear to see he has drive and talent. If this season is about rebuilding and gauging what we need, its a perfect time to blood him in properly.

Mistakes like that are expected at his age, it'll be a worry if he still has them 2-3 years from now.

Incredible talent.

With that said, obviously he shouldn't start games in the league yet because of said mistakes.
