Arsenal are gonna definitley be the runt of this litter, might not ever win a game in this
Don't think Arteta will want to play the big boys with the likes of Elneny, Ceballos and Bellerin. I'm a bit more excited about the STW now.

People acting like the group stages of the current European competitions aren’t already bland and a mere formality.
The point is that the opportunity exists for teams to break through and make a name for themselves. European football pyramid is built on upward mobility, ESL brings the caste system into it. Some clubs will always be in the higher echelons of the pyramid because of their performance, sporting-wise or financially, but they are not entitled to it. This model makes it as such.

He wanted to redevelope the existing Europa cup.
and that's what they're doing

The 'redevelopment' went something like this

1) a Cup for the 'Champions'
2) a Cup for champions and others
3) a 'champions' 'league' for a lot of clubs, with a small league format
4) a League with big Clubs

This was discussed long before Kroenke though as far back as the early 1990's....

For all their flaws do you reckon Hill-Wood and all the old school toffs who inhabited the higher echelon's of Arsenal prior to the sale to Kroenke would have done this?

Whatever else was wrong with them they were steeped in Arsenal and English football tradition. They would have known better.

Looking for receipts 👀
group stages are ****e
same as playing west brom and sheffield

bin all the excess
They may be **** for you but tell that to a young 19 year old playing for say Zagreb or Anderlect or whatever getting to play against Real or Barca.

It's not **** for those fans who rarely get to compete at that level seeing their "smaller" team against the best in the world.

Not that I want this but you do get the whole purpose is to make big money for only a few clubs right. That money will go to better players, better managers. If this happens, sure we’ll suck at the start. But overtime you’ll get better and it will be a lot of superteams in 1 competition. It not like we’ll still have Cedric and David Luiz when we get 350M.

I hope no one tries to take the moral high ground. We’re infamous for scamming our way into the First Division over Sp**s and now we have scammed our way into Europe’s elite despite being midtable. Reminds me of those rich kids who fraud their way into Oxbridge cos Daddy has deep pockets. Kroenke is Arsenal through and through.

We definitely did not pay our way into division 1 in 1919, if anything Henry Norris saved the arses of Liverpool and Man United after the 1915 matchfixing scandal. Scammed, yeah go on, but only because even back then, the northern clubs were big powerhouses. It's funny how noone mentions that.

Tottenham had also finished in the bottom two of division 1, and if they were promoted, (despite by all accounts deserving relegation) we would be moaning about dirty cheating middlesex. It's sheer propaganda on both sides through and threw. If you want moral high ground go back to the days of Dial Square FC.

Let us not forget that Tottenham Hotspur also bribed their way into the football league in 1908, and unlike the supposedly hushed up doings of Norris, their transfer record as concerns Stoke during that year actually reflects this.

It doesn’t though, the only way to truly break through for decades now is to have a billionaire backing you.

I've never been a goalscorer. I've only owned goals. Good own goals.
