United travel to Arsenal on Wednesday night and, when asked if Van Persie could return to the club at his pre-match press conference, Wenger said: 'I don't think that's an ideal subject for us to speak about.'

Didn't rule it out. I wouldn't be surprised if RvP is available in the summer, one way or the other.

Okay here's how it's going to work.

1. RVP will need to publicly beg Wenger and the team to come back, on a live-stream on the Arsenal website. He will grovel at his knees, apologizing fervently for his lack of faith in Arsène and the club as well as his former team-mates and admitting that he sold his soul and chance to be a legend for one trophy.

2. He will burn his Man United shirts during this apology ceremony, while melting down his medals and trophies that he won at United. He will then ardently state that Wenger is better than SAF, and Arsenal as a club are better than United.

3. He will then tell everyone he was a greedy, arrogant and selfish tw*t, comparable to Nasri and Song.

Finally, he will spend the rest of the live-stream begging to be taken back to relieve him of his nightmare under Moyes, and will pay for free until he wins Arsenal either the Premiership or the Champions League.

Then, and only then...

We'll say no, you're an old man and a ****, have fun under Moyes.

Im going to flip-flop and change my stance. I would take RvP back, as long as we sign a young striker with massive potential too - would leave us with 3 solid options at CF next season.

RvP might want out due to the rebuild that will now take place, even Moyes might not be too unhappy to see him leave as he can sign a younger guy maybe, or fit Rooney and Mata in his team more ideally, who knows, they've been linked with Costa and Cavani.

If RvP is available, Wenger will try to bring him back, im up for it.

Brilliant answer from Wenger though, Utd fans will freak out, RVP could get his hopes up (if he wanted to go back) and only Wenger is pulling the strings.

Of course he'd want to come back. We're on the up, whilst his team are on the down. Then the sudden realisation of living in Manchester must be killing him.

At this rate someone will claim sooner rather than later, that Tony Adams isn't an Arsenal legend, and loved the booze and the birds more than AFC.

Went to prison, drank, others like Parlour were drunk during games, Henry dumped us for Barcelona, Sol walked out at half time, hoe dare Vieira the captain question the club, Wright talks **** on radio now etc, where do you draw the line? All legends for me.

Gerrard over Lampard too, that could be controversial with Chelsea fans.

Gerrard instead of Lampard

As a neutral you can see why he'd pick Gerrard but he's not a neutral - he's Lampard's clubmate and only plays with Gerrard 4-5 times a season

Such a ****, but you've got to admire his honesty.

This sort of stuff doesn't do his legacy any good. It's not like he was over looked for mug players either, you had the likes of Adams, Shearer and Beckham as captains during his playing days.

I love Sol btw, and for me he is probably the best England player I have ever seen, along with Ashley Cole. Not many others have had the quality and consistency to match these two, in the last 15 years or so.

Great player, probably even one of my favourite centre backs, but **** me that's a stupid comment. I'm pretty sure Paul Ince captained England for a while in the 90s.
