It has minimal effect because it is in the "accomplished" position, especially if you put farrows to the AM R position too.
Training has more to do with his "natural" position and changing his stats. Training him as a winger will develop him more and easier too. Develop him as a midfielder (equally defensive and offensive training, aerobic and strength training equal too) will make it a bit hard for him.
