His contract is until 2019, they can't loan out him, can they?
They can, and according to the Telegraph he prefers that:
Cahill is also keen to stay in the Premier League and would favour a loan move so he can then explore his options as a free agent in the summer.
Chelsea want so badly to get his £110,000 a week wages off the books that they're willing to loan him.

Eight years too late to be honest but whatever.

We're going to pay him 110k pounds to sit on our bench? Or are we going to start a 33 year old defender who our direct rivals deemed not good enough to help them in their quest for fourth?

Chelsea better be subsidizing his wages.

The club must have a plan for the summer

Roman sold us Cech. Sold Matic to United as well. He seems to have a good relationship with players that served him well.

Chelsea still owe us like 5 more transfers in exchange for the Ashley Cole deal which remains the worst transfer this club has done for the last 50 years.

Forget buying Silvestre and the like. We gave Chelsea the best Left back the England team had seen in two decades, our future captain and local lad all to save 5k quid and watch Gael Clichy screw things up at Birmingham in 2008.

One of the club's biggest mistakes, Chelsea were never going to find a better left back, or one even close to Cole's quality. Imagine that 2008 team with Cashley Cole at LB and no Gallas crying on the pitch, we would have won the league for sure.

I can't even think of a comparable situation now. Imagine if we swapped Mkhi for Pogba or Mustafi for VVD.

Plenty of games to go around, and if Emery persists with the 3412 then it allows him to play 3 natural CB's instead of Xhaka or one of the full-backs.

Around £2.8m in wages for a stopgap CB when we're pretty desperate isn't the worst of deals even if he doesn't play much.

Played plenty of games last year, didn't see why we'd miss out just because Sarri doesn't rate him.

Seems like an ideal stop gap if it's what Emery wants. Although it's yet more money wasted on these type of players, something which really needs to end.

This is like that one year when our fans wanted to sign Jonny Evans. Or was it Ashley Williams? Scott Dann? Hopefully with the same result.

If this happens then one thing's for sure - Cahill will be keen to impress as this is basically an audition for his next contract in the summer, wherever that might be

No thanks, we don't necessarily lack experience in the backline, we lack quality.

Get him in NOW

Nah fam. Any player we bring in has to be fit to perform at a moment's notice. I don't want any more Lichsteiners, Silvestres, Kallstroms or Vivianos.

Even if he is semi-competent these "can do a job", "he's just a stop gap and not very expensive", "solid pro", "will put in a shift" type signings have gotten us nowhere in the long run or the short run if we're being honest. Benayoun, Flamini, Squillaci, Chamakh.

Wenger banked too much on youth potential then went way too far in the other direction with his sudden love of middle of the road tier footballers in their late 20s to early 30s.

I want us to sign unknown gems like Douzi or players who are 24/25 and about to hit their prime. No more Cahill stop gap type signings because they either don't play at all or end up having to play too much when an injury crisis hits and you see they aren't anywhere near good enough

Yeah but that’s something to correct in the summer. January isn’t the time to buy quality unfortunately
