That was actually a solid display 1st half. Liverpool seem to be a 1 trick pony constantly crossing balls in unable to break our defence and scored via a set piece.

We had chances and should of taken them.

Not one trick pony. It is our game plan. We packed the midfield and completely let their FBs cross.

And Emery has to decide between Xhaka and Matteo, we don't need both of them on the pitch.
Matteo! He offers everything Xhaka can but with more energy and composure. He'll make mistakes, he's still a kid, but he's a massive talent.

I don't think the people moaning about small time tactics appreciate how difficult this is to play against.
Go and watch a video of Guardiola winning at Dortmund under Klopp a few years ago, the whole first half Bayern had Muller upfront on his own and just smashed the ball long back to Dortmund, they had about 30% possession after 50 odd minutes.
After that Dortmund tired and Bayern won 2 or 3 nil, you completely play into their hands by trying to keep the ball in your own half, you have to ride it out, we've done pretty well on the whole.
If Pepe or Auba score the best two chances of the half, it's practically perfect.

Xhaka at that stage where he’s been called sh*t despite clearly not playing sh*t. I mean come on.

not ****, just painfully mediocre with a few dangerous errors thrown in. 2 19 year olds once again are stamping their mark on the game FAR more than our what should be , combative midfield captain.

It's easy to say that when you're being pegged back by the other team. We havent a choice but to defend deep. When we've had the ball, we've pushed up.
When we've had the ball, we've hoofed it to Pepe in the hopes that he does something with it. That might be acceptable for a midtable team but with players like Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe up front, it's disappointing.

The set up is good but individual errors will be our downfall like usual.

IF we had one more fast forward I feel like we'd cause Liverpool so much trouble. If only Lacazette had pace.

People not understanding that we are not as good as Liverpool ffs. We aren’t going to go to Anfield and play them off the park.

We’ve had Auba miss an open goal and Pepe miss a 1v1. The plan worked, the attackers didn’t.
