why are people giving Nik **** ratings? I thought he did well. Not world class but for someone his age whom rarely plays, leading the line on his own against world class defenders in Vidic and Ferdinand he did exceptionally well.

Agreed, people around here judge players against incredibly high standards. We all know hes not Adebayor, hes our 3rd-4th choice striker and hes just 21 years old. This was the biggest match of his career and he came up against the best CB pairing in Europe.

The fact that he was a handful and caused them a few problems was very impressive. Made himself available at the right times as well. All in all a lot of positives to take out of his performance - which was a level above his recent run of form.

Almunia - 7 - A hopeless moment right at the outset, and dropped a couple of shots in the first half, but never caused us too many problems, and overall this was a very solid performance

Sagna - 7 - Hopeless crossing, but otherwise very solid and committed down the right. Needs to work a bit more closely with Walcott.

Gallas - 8 - Finally, a captain's performance from a man who must know he has a lot to prove.

Silvestre - 7 - Awful passback in the first minute, and far from secure at the back. Brilliant tackle on Park though.

Clichy - 8.5 - Stuggled a bit with Ronaldo in the first 15, and gave him a bit too much time and space. Had him in his pocket thereafter, and got forwrad superbly, and put in some excellent balls.

Walcott - 7 - Poor end product, but is getting nowhere near enough credit here for his movement - his running off the ball was absolutely brilliant, and had Cesc found a few more passes, it could have been a very different afternoon.

Denilson - 8 - Switched off a bit in the last 10 minutes of the first half, but otherwise showed a lot of fight in defence, and played that pivotal role behind Cesc very well.

Cesc - 7 - Some great passes, and good work, but had he been slightly more on song, he could have created twice as many chances. Not a bad performance though.

Nasri - 9 - An almost perfect attacking performance. Great movement, great interplay, great strikes. Kept posession really well.

Diaby - 7 - Really thrives in the more advanced role, played the ball well, and some very intelligent play at times as well. Didn't really offer much of a goal-threat, which is a bit of a problem, but overall good.

Bendtner - 7.5 - Much improved from his awful Stoke and Fenerbahce performances, worked really hard up front, got into good positions, and was usually an effective outlet. A little naive at times though, and perhaps should have had at least one goal.

Subs:

Song - 7.5 - A total contrast to his Sp**s performance - did exactly what he should have done then, and genuinely made us more secure when he came on. Swept up well in midfield, and was calm in distribution when we needed it most.

Fabianski - 7 - Did everything that he could have done, though wasn't really overly tested.

Touré - 6.5 - Not much time to make an impact, but showed willingness to run and added the required steel on the right hand side

Agree 100%.

Your ratings & comments are about the only ones worth reading.

I thought the work Bendtner put in was fantastic. He ran himself into the ground and made life difficult for Rio and Vidic. He was clearly exhausted near the end.

The guy is just 21 and every player needs a run of games.

Bendtner didnt have a great game but by no means was he terrible. Considering he was playing up pretty much as a lone striker against Ferdinand and Vidic he certainly kept them busy and created a few chances for himself and others. Give him more games against opposition of this calibre and I'm confident it'll mature his overall game and we'll see a better player.

I'd give him a 6.5 today, opposition must be taken into consideration as well as his role

Almunia - 7 Started off badly (put it to nerves) but looked more assured as the game went on. Brave choice to dive into Carricks oncoming foot. Bravo.

Sagna - 7 Didnt do much wrong, solid defensive duties.

Gallas - 8 Solid, looks more assured and Held the line and commanded the team as a Captain should. More of the same please.

Silvestre - 7 Looking better with each game, giving Wenger a descision to make, and Toure some healthy competition.

Clichy - 8 Some great crosses, excellent defending. Unlucky to be given a Yellow for a foul on Crynoldo when he should have been given a medal.

Walcott - 7 Excellent run to drag away Man utds defence, other runs often overlooked by his collegues.

Denilson - 7

Fabregas - 7

Nasri - 8

Diaby - 7.5

Bendtner - 6.5 Let himself down with heading and desicion making, but a better performance then last weekend.

Re: Arsenal 2-1 Man Utd player rating

Just watched the game again.

Almunia - 6 Nearly ****ed us up with his stupidity in the 2nd minute. If Carrick's shot off the rebound had gone in, I think we'd have lost. Seems to have reverted to his 1 or 2 dodgy moments a game form recently.

Sagna - 7 Did everything right but the crossing.

Gallas - 7.5 Solid.

Silvestre - 6.5 Solid except for that stupid backpass at the start.

Clichy - 7 Good going forward but allowed CR to create some opportunities on our left.

Walcott - 6.5 Hard to rate him as I feel he wasn't getting the service he required.

Denilson - 8 Excellent game by him today, I thought.

Fabregas - 6.5 Was going to give him a 5 earlier but after watching the game again, I thought he was ok in the middle of the park but his final balls were woeful, particularly in the last 20 minutes where he wasted 4 counter-attacking opportunities. A sharper Fabregas would probably have at least made 2 of the passes.

Nasri - 9 MOTM. Created great chances that Bendtner and Diaby failed to convert and some half chances too. Took his own opportunities well.

Diaby - 6.5 Did his job well but not particularly impressing.

Bendtner - 6 Put himself about well but had no end product.

Subs
Song 6.5 Did well in his short time. Broke up the opposition's play a few times.

Fabianski 6.5 - Was good when he came on.

Toure 5.5 Didn't play particularly well but then again, he was asked to play at right midfield.

Clichy 5?? Must be a typo!!
struggled with ronaldo. got beaten a good 3-4 times in the first half alone.
i'm not sure who to blame for those. clichy ended up having to tuck in because silvestre got dragged out of position, leaving cronaldo wide open at the far post on at least two occasions that shouldve led to at least one goal. not sure if it was denilson/fabregas' fault or nasri for failing to spot the danger and helping out in defence.

almunia - 5.5 - still doesnt inspire confidence but way to take one for the team
sagna - 7
gallas - 8
silvestre - 7
clichy - 8
walcott - 6 - still not on the same wavelength and technique let him down, but great movement off the ball
fabregas - 6 - careless with the ball
denilson - 6 - good shift but still not convinced by his overall game - couldve played in walcott on a break in the first half but unfortunately that wouldve required a forward pass
nasri - 7 - great goals but i feel he's naive defensively, let cronaldo in twice when clichy had to tuck in. you have to play for the team there and track back, even if its not your fault - great run for the second, something hleb would never have done - felt he couldve had another on a break but he didnt make the far post run for diaby, no idea why
diaby - 7
bendtner - 6 - ran out of steam at the end, otherwise he shouldve had one too

i have to laugh at these ratings. we played well but were way to open. we actually played better as a team against tottenham, yet everybody was marked 4 & 5.

Though everyone had a good game , Theo was probably quietest but made a great run to pull vidic out of position for Nasri to exploit.

Almunia, 7 - much more solid than his neck
Sagna, 8 - energetic defensive play helped stifle wingers
Gallas, 9 - monster performance, still our best centre-back
Sylvestre, 7 - awful back-pass but recovered well later
Clichy, 7 - weakest defender but much better crossing
Theo, 6 - a bit lost but vital running
Cesc, 7 - regaining his ninja touch of death
Denilson, 7 - energetic and purposeful, trying very hard
Nasri, 9 - after his goal he was everywhere
Diaby, 6 - achieved his important task of retention
Bendtner, 6 - had he scored, would be saluted

Song, 6 - lost his idiotic non-chalance and persevered
Toure, 5 - please maintain possession a bit better
Fabianski, 7 - did his job, faultless for goal

Wenger, 7 - great tactics, but was it deliberate?

Ref (Webb), 5 - too lenient yet can be pedantic

Arsenal Quotes

I believe one of the best things about managing people is that we can influence lives in a positive way. That’s basically what a manager is about. When I can do that, I am very happy.
