Sven's Transfer Targets: Summer 2018

If we were to spend big money on one player, what position would you prefer that to be for?

Wasn't Zaha there when Moyes was there? SAF bought him & loaned him back to palace? He's decent but not £70m worth, great dribbler but I question his finishing, I think Reiss Nelson is a better player and there's many other wingers i'd rather buy.
Yes he was but SAF is still an important figure at United, the club probably owed it to him. Zaha scored 9 in 28 which is not so bad a return for a team that creates less and is overall poor.
All I am saying is Zaha is criminally underrated and skill wise he is among the top players in the PL. Although the 70m price tag is a little too steep I think he could really flourish if a better team bought him.

As for Nelson, the little I have seen from his senior team appearances is proof that he isn't there yet and should only get minutes in cup games and the odd minutes as a sub in the PL for him to develop. Otherwise the team would suffer dearly from such an experiment. Further, I think what we are talking about a winger who would slot directly to the first 11 right?

Who sane person would take Zaha over Martial ?

Martial is an elite talent who already plays at a very high level, especially when you look at his inconsistent playing time under Mou which makes it even harder to keep your level.

From all players remotely possible I'd only take Dembele and Bailey over Martial. He is alo very capable of playing in the striker role.

Who sane person in MU would sell Martial to Arsenal?

Think we should stop that idea.

Mourinho sold Mkhi to us because he thought he **** us, which is wrong. However, for all little man he is, he would never do that with Martial in the next million years.

Could we buy Zaha? Yes, we can.

Fair enough haha - was rather reacting to the state of this thread which for some of us kinda made it look like Zaha was their first choice which is rather shocking to be honest.

Not opposed to having Zaha on the wing, I even think he'd do quite well here, but there are way better targets we should go for first.

Think so too. There are many quality wingers Emery can buy like some in PSG, or Kingsley Coman, Bailey... if he really wants one.

I suppose that Emery has not bought a winger because there are many mediocre he can not ship out: Perez, Wellbeck, Campell.

I base it on Martial being much younger so you would expect natural improvement. Martial also had that 1 good season at a big club whereas Zaha at the same age couldnt breakthrough at that club. Martial same no. of goals as Zaha last season despite playing most games as sub - you can argue he was in a better team but he was also managed by a park the bus specialist. Just simply watching both players you'd rather have Martial which is why Zaha is being linked to Sp**s and Martial to proper elite clubs.
Martial has been linked to Sp**s as much as zaha has. Zaha is currently better than martial. Martial is one dimensional, all he does is cut inside and shoot. Zaha much more unpredictable with his dribbling and more creative.

Coman isn’t available and bailey would cost 70 M or so.

Zaha for 40-50 M would be great business. Surprised so many don’t rate him.

You missed my 2 points. Arsenal can spend up to 90M if Emery really really wants a winger, the problem lies elsewhere. And Martial will only come to Arsenal in another universe so it is irrelevant to compare Martial and Zaha.

Sooooo I was drugged whilst on holiday and almost died, heart flatlined, anything happen with transfers recently?

 Jesus wept. That sounds rough. On the plus side...free drugs

No transfer news really. Perez might be gone for £7 million. We'll probably have to sell Ramsey if we want to buy anyone decent by the looks of things.

Not gonna bump the Soyuncu thread and risk the wrath of the mob, but do you remember like five weeks ago when we were supposedly texting Soyuncu every day asking him if he wanted to go to the cinema with us?

Hmm yeah, this guy needs to get a different agent and stop f*cking about. Really like him as a player, great hair of course, but cut the crap.

Arsenal Quotes

When I am asked why I stayed at Arsenal so long.. my answer is simple; I never wanted to be anywhere else. I could have earned a lot more elsewhere, but that wouldn't compensate for all the good years at Highbury.
