The Wish List

Walcott is very effective. People complaining about him breaking down moves seem to fail to understand thats what happens in advanced positions, its not the same as breaking down a move deeper in midfield. Walcott takes people on, puts in dangerous balls and stretches the defence. We are a better team when he plays.

When space is at a premium Nasri and Arshavin offer much more than Walcott. Theo has only scored in two home games in the PL(Blackpool hatrick and a goal against Chelsea). He has improved this season but his game is still too predictable

Meh - IMO NONE of our current wide options are of the level required, and we're arguing over the best options of an inadequate resource selection. We're still arguing over potential development into the role & the current differences provided, as opposed to actually looking to improve our resources = little wonder we're in permanent transition & unlikely to win anything.

Speaking of wide men, I'd love if we could get our hands on the Swiss hurricane that is Xherdan Shaqiri.

After watching him during the U-21's I reckon he's among the top 3 talents of European football. Extremely impressed by him.

That guy is pretty amazing. I noticed him as well, brilliant technical ability and have a great shot in him.

I think he isn't a wideman though, he is a box to box CM

James Rodriguez

They have some talent upfront Porto. I read they've also signed Juan Iturbe who's even better than Rodriguez

Yea, he's supposedly the business...can't wait to watch him in the U-20 WC for Argentina. Porto do tend to snap these great talents.

Where's any links to a DM?
IMO if we don't sign a player at least on par with Song then we'll see more of the same **** in midfield next season = our patterns won't change & nor will our cover, and the CBs will continue to be exposed.

Diaby and Song will rotate in that more-defensive/B2B midfield role while a youngster such as Le Coq or Frimpong is brought into the 1st team.

Lansbury to replace Denilson and between himself, Ramsey and Wilshere rotate in that linking midfield role and occassionally substituting for Cesc.

In substituting for Cesc we'll likely have a number of different players including Nasri (who will stay or Alvarez if he signs)

We need to keep Fabregas and Nasri. Buy a new left back as it seems Clichy is going. Sign another CB Cahill etc. Lansbury to replace Denilson. Gervinho to replace Bendtner.

So essentially the status quo to remain regarding the shape, roles, patterns and reources? If so then IMO we're f*cked before we begin = AW's tinkering with a 3 role midfield has failed every season since it began.

Looking down the first page of transfer threads is depressing...not that I'd mind seeing players like Gervinho/ Samba/ Alvarez come in (especially at the expense of Diaby/ Denilson/ Bendy/ etc.) but I can't see any of them taking us up a level. They are the minimum.

We need a Bergkamp type singing...a Benzema, or..or SOMEONE. In addition to all these other names. And that's if Cesc AND Nasri stay. If they don't? Jesus.

Anyway, wish list;

IN: Gerivnho, Samba, Cahill, Benzema.

OUT: Bendy, Denilson, Diaby, Squillachi, and (sadly) Rosicky.

I'm confident that with minor tweaks and better backups coupled with a more penetrative set of WF's we'll do just fine.

AW hasn't stopped 'tweaking' the midfield as it's both the engineroom & focus of our play, and it's yet to work without specific sets of skills in each role = it's too specialised/reliant upon the players.

I'm pretty sure Diaby and Song can and have played the same role with more or less equal efficiency this season, ditto for Wilshere and Rambo. It's not specialized at all with the exception of Cesc's role which we only see an issue with because the players that get put there are either too scared (Nasri) or not quite as developed (Wilshere and Rambo) to pull it off quite as well.

But then again, this is FM so all our backups should be equal to the starters

Ramsey has not looked as consistent and assured as Wilshere at all in his Arsenal career, hence Wilshere has nailed down a starting spot. Squad player at this point.

If Song and Diaby is as good as we can do for one of the CM spots, then I really doubt the ambition of the club. We're trying to close the gap on the best sides in Europe, Diaby playing a key role just doesn't cut it.

Anyway, no midfielder will be brought in and the reason we won't IMO is because Diaby's Arsenal career would be over if we did. Best I am hoping for is Wilshere improving more and Cesc staying put/staying fit for the whole season.

Arsenal Quotes

When I arrived, an Arsenal share was worth £800; it subsequently rose continuously in value and by the time I left it stood at £17,000.
