Yannick Carrasco

Someone posted a good article about his China move in this thread back in January. To summarize, seemed like he kinda got played by shady agents and the dual ownership between Atletico and Chinese club. Also, don’t really care about the China move. Contrary to the belief of most fans, these guys are humans and want to live their life to the fullest.

He has decent pace, good dribbling and good feet, as you'd hope to see on a wide man. Not blown away by him, but he'll definitely be welcome.

Don´t know much about him but at this point I guess we´re not in a position to be picky. At least we finally have a winger

Would prefer Fraser, I've got a lot of questions about Carrasco's mentality, at least with Fraser you'll know he gives everything every single game.

I mean Carrasco wasn't even THAT impressive at Atletico, even so going to China in your prime is very questionable. Don't really want a mercenary.

Carrasco has been making £170,000 a week in China. How is that mercenary? He ended up in China because he fell out with Simeone and was able to move to China in February rather than waiting until summer. The move was facilitated by the owner of the Chinese club, who also owns something like 20 percent of Atletico Madrid.

I like Fraser, but not as much as Carrasco and certainly not at £40 million if reports of Bournemouth demanding that figure are true.

Prefer Ryan Fraser too. Big question marks on Carrasco, who despite his talent has never really flourished at any club or for Belgium.

Carrasco is a bigger gamble than Fraser but has more about him, defo a higher ceiling.

Last time he was in Europe he was performing extremely well in a CL final, and even though he wasn't good in his last season, it was more about personal issues with Simeone by the sound of it.

Think you’ll have to work to get the best out of him. Fraser is more like a piece of a jigsaw, you just slot him in the team and he’ll deliver a decent level straight away.

He went to China in his prime, you telling me there was no other options in Europe? He saw the big contract and wanted to go there, no one else would have paid him that money.

With Carrasco there's absolutely no guarantees either, he's the type of player who could easily go off the boil for a period. He's not really kicked on from the promising youngster that was at Monaco and a CL final goal doesn't change that. With Fraser at least you saw a consistent performer for Bournemouth this past season who's still slightly younger than Carrasco. For all this talk about Fraser coming from Bournemouth, I'd rather bring in a player in their mid-20's coming from a mid-table PL side than signing someone who's playing in their mid-20's in China.

He's always seemed like a hot and cold player, capable of a lot of things but doesn't really show it enough.

Fraser's a poverty Beckham isn't he?

You've either never seen Fraser player or you've never seen Beckham play. Fraser is a lot different in many aspect. Very direct with his running style and probably better coming off the left inside. Beckham was a guy who'd mostly play right of midfield with his crossing and long passing being his main attributes as well as a set-piece specialist. Not sure why you'd conclude Fraser is a poverty Beckham. Maybe Ward-Prowse is a more accurate comparison if you're looking for a modern British player to compare Beckham too.

Also even if he was a poverty Beckham, Becks was absolutely world class in his day so getting a lesser version wouldn't exactly be the worst thing in the world.

Carrasco is a high risk, but high reward signing - has the potential, if he fulfills it is a different thing though. Fraser is the safe signing - not as talented as Casrrasco but he knows the league and he'll deliver. Ideally we'll sign both, can't take the thought of Iwobi and Mkhi as wide options, or just squad options, next season.
