The problem with our model is that to be competitive you have to be smarter than other clubs, Liverpool and Leicester two good examples of being smarter than other clubs. The problem with that is being smarter than everyone else is very difficult, it takes effort, and the apathy that emanates from the owner doesn't encourage a culture of continued effort to be smarter than everyone else. The SL, just from a narrow Arsenal perspective, would've been very beneficial, cos we'd get rewarded without even having to be smarter and put the effort in.

Arsenal is the lazy dosser of elite football, hoping to hitch a ride on the gravy train.

Wouldn’t mind the Champions League being just that, the Champions. Move everyone down a competition with the top EL teams replacing the space left by the champions.

But we weren't. We were offered to take part in a competition along with 5 league rivals 4 of whom are way ahead of us right now in terms of squads and finances. That would enable them to compete in the superleague from the off and therefore make more money.

Handing City, Chelsea and United 300m a year and handing us the same only means we will almost guaranteed to finish above the likes of Villa and all.

City Chelsea and United would have that 300m plus what they usually spend. They are already further down the line with their team.

If all 4 clubs have the money for Grealish he's not picking us ahead of them. Haaland the same. So while we would have more resources than now it wouldn't make us closer to winning the league.

The Champions League is crap, really dull and tedious until you get to the last 16 knockout phase. I would like to see the pointless group system scrapped and replaced with a straight knockout.

Maybe something like the World snooker championships could work. There is a huge qualifying tournament, the 16 qualifiers join with the top 16 and the 'proper' tournament begins.

Lets face it even people who are interested in snooker don't watch the qualifying, a bunch of 'lower' players slogging it out, they want to watch it from the last 32 on when the big boys are introduced. Why do UEFA think football fans are any different?

they brought in the opposite really last week... sound dull as ****

From the 2024/25 season, there will be a single league made up of all 36 competing clubs. This will give four more sides the opportunity to compete against the best clubs in Europe.

Under the new format, teams will play four matches more than is currently the case. They will no longer play three opponents twice – home and away – but will instead face fixtures against 10 different teams, half of them at home and half of them away.

While the top eight teams will advance automatically to the round of 16, those sides placed between ninth and 24th will enter a play-off round.

Home and away group fixtures will always be boring as there’s no risk. It works at the World Cup and Euro’s as with three games one poor or lucky result can change things.

Increase the teams have have two group stages or a table before the knockouts. Or drop the bottom two every 3-4 match days.

And to think the EL is even worse. At least after the group stages in the CL it gets interesting. We’re in the semi final and are about to face our first real test.

Our former players besides Wrighty are disgraceful.

Fair enough, Ray Parlour has a point about AFTV but what has that got to do with Kroenke? He’s even reluctant to call out the owner.

That’s quite disappointing from Ray, you’d think he’d at least be someone who understands. But no he turns a chance to put pressure on our owners onto an attack on AFTV.

I don’t even believe AFTV do want us to lose. There’s is enough ups and downs in football in a good season for clicks if that’s the game.

Peak AFTV has, and will always be when we’re performing well than come crashing down. Not this dead state we’re in.

There will always be boring games. Have you watched United v the top teams lately in the league. Have you watched our games against City. Absolutely nothing interesting or exciting. It is a myth that these big games are so much more exciting that others. The only difference is there's more at stake.

Without boring games there will never be exciting games. Unfortunately every game can not have the significance of a final.

Plus small teams have to exist. We can't just say small teams have no place in major competitions. Some of those smaller teams did better than us against the likes of Bayern when in the CL.

Ray Parlour - Its all about business, it's all about making money

Robbie Lyle - You sound like Stan Kroenke!

1-0 to the (real ) Arsenal!

Ray Parlour - on talksport - having a go at Robbie about hits on his channel, ffs
Very, very poor from Ray there
Gone down a fair way in my estimation - as if he cares!

Calling out AFTV, when you work for Talksport

That's really disappointing from Ray, doesn't even seem to want to talk about the owner, just wants to have a go at Robbie for some reason.

Spend since Wenger left Arsenal. Including net spend just to show which clubs are getting pumped by owners and which clubs are simply spending what they get via sales/revenue etc. On top of that I've added wage bills just to make it look even worse -

Chelsea £450M - £181M net spend - £143M wage bill
City - £370M - £185M net spend - £136M wage bill
United - £350M - £234M net spend - £183M wage bill
Arsenal - £300M - £230M net spend - £145M wage bill
Liverpool - £250M - £138M net spend - £122M wage bill
Leicester - £250M - £34M net spend - £77M wage bill
Sp**s - £233M - £156M net spend - £131M wage bill

We're spending title challenging money on transfers and wages whilst languishing in mid table. This is due to poor recruitment over the past 5 years under many regimes and constantly chopping and changing hierarchy/managers etc.

He's attempting to delegitimise the most popular fan voice critical of Kroenke, on behalf, perhaps even at the behest, of the club.

Arsenal Quotes

I was receiving offers from many other clubs and declining them all, even the most tempting ones. Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG contacted me, Bayern, France, England...I am happy to have been able to say no to more glory, more money, and to have been guided only by the idea of loyally serving the club. I had knitted myself a soul in Red and White.
