Does this guy even play wide? Isn't he a no 10?
That's what he is currently doing for his club (and successfully) due to severe injury trouble at CSKA and that's the position he is playing for his country since Arshavin holds seniority there. Basically, he can play both but he is more comfortable down the center.

Had some nice touches in the game against Inter, a pre-assist on the first goal, tasty crosses and creative passing as well as a tough angle shot.

Top stuff bro. don't know if you've done already, but care for a rundown of his skills/style/scouting report? kthx :D

Sorta like this (e.g. Gourcuff)

Strengths: A playmaker of real quality, Gourcuff is an accomplished passer of the ball and has showcased his creative streak on numerous occasions. His technique bears comparison to the finest players on the globe and he is capable of scoring spectacular goals.

Weaknesses: Carlo Ancelotti identified mental frailties during Gourcuff's time in Italy while he has also been accused of being too selfish.

Career high: His remarkable year in 2008-09 as he scooped the French Player of the Year award when inspiring Bordeaux to the league title. He even scored the goal of the season with a wonderful individual strike against Paris Saint Germain.

Career low: Failing to make the grade at Milan and starting just four Serie A games in the 2007-08 season as Rossoneri manager Ancelotti claimed psychological issues were to blame.

Style: Inventive, extravagant, perceptive, an accomplished playmaker.

Looks very good in that comp, but who knows? What would his price be?
All the rumours so far point to a sum around 14 mil.

@mavelous: I'll try to find one, if/when I do, I'll post it.

Btw, this kid is still pretty young and still has a lot of untapped potential that somebody like Wenger could really bring out.

I forgot to mention this, but Dzagoev has 1 year left on his contract with CSKA and leaving his acquisition till after the Euros might be dangerous as that could become his coming out party.

Sorry to derail the thread but RUS what can you tell me about his clubmate Honda?

What is his best position, because he seems to be able to cover so many from midfield up. Just how good is he?

Honestly, I have no idea. I only started following Dzagoev and CSKA closely this fall and Honda has been injured with meniscus damage for most of that time. From what I read, CSKA got him for a rumored sum of 6 mil euro, he did very well in his first season and Milan offered 10 mil for him but CSKA decided against selling him. Then his form slipped as he wanted to move to one of the bigger leagues in Europe. After a while he got over it and again became one of CSKA's most important players, they currently seem to value him the same as Dumbia.

His best position appears to be deep-lying playmaker but he can also play AM and behind the striker. Good on dead ball situations. That's all I know, I've never seen Honda play, sorry.

I saw that one but it is from 2 years ago, I was trying to find something more current.

@Bossa: There is one huge difference and that's attitude, this kid has great attitude and he works hard defensively.

Here is a scouting report that's current but it is pretty short:

Too early to bring this thread back? :angel

I wonder which major club finally decides to go after him. I think he really has a lot of upside and would thrive with better talent around him.

Guys - try not to bump a thread without a link. Agree he's an exciting talent but haven't seen anything of late about Arsenal interest in him. Feel free to correct me! Thanks

The Express said us and Chelsea are favourites to sign Dzagoev today, that's where this comes from. Last year of his contract too.

Here's a Dzagoev match compilation against the Czechs. Now that Chelsea and United have signed their AM's we should be all over this kid.

Dzagoev doesn't seem to be pulling up any trees for his club though, anybody watch him on a weekly basis?

He's a good player, definately an Arsenal type player, but so was Arshavin. I just lol'd hard at Pavvychenko being on Sp**s' subs bench since he's been there. :D

Caught sight of him 3 years ago, would take either him or Belhanda for our creative needs. Unfortunately, I can see us being priced out after his showings in the Euros.

Arsenal Quotes

This is a big moment of happiness...we waited a long time for this and the happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering, and the time that you have to wait....this was more important than all the other (trophies) we have twice won the double, but were not under pressure then like we were today.
