If you’re still angry about Arteta just remember that United are the richest club in the world and yet have passed their managerial vacancies to Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho

It can’t be down to a salary, though, can it? We’re talking peanuts here. I think experience in management is overrated a lot of the time, but I doubt the board would trust a noob for the sake of paying him, say, £6m year as opposed to £9-10m for an Allegri or whoever.

Saying that, if as Say Yes speculated, the club want to go down the newfangled route of DoFs and all these others roles that reduce the input of the manager, then they’ll see appointing Arteta as like killing two birds with one stone. And it might save a few quid as well. ‘Streamlining’, son!

Not just salary. Managers demand a budget “a war chest”.... arteta wont...

Arsenal Quotes

In 1997/98 we became English champions as I had set myself three missions to carry out which I felt were essential. One: to have an impact on the result and the team's playing style. Two: to foster the player's individual development. Three: to strengthen the structure of the club and enhance its global influence.
