but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
Great deal for us. Can't believe Barca will pay that for a defender with one year left.

Nothing Wrong With Me
Apart from anything else, he was a gent to the end, never had a bad word to about anything Arsenal related and thats the way to leave a club. All the best TV5.

Not even sad, the guy looked really promising at one point but was unreliable with injuries, which in the end proved his downfall here. Let's be honest, he was a liability in the end, and dropping him was one of the best things Wenger has ever done.

Wish him all the best, but not sad to see him go. I didn't even recognise him as our captain as focus was always on Mertesacker and Arteta.

Still struggling to understand how Vermaelen is leaving Arsenal to go to Barcelona for more "playing time".

It's not so crazy. Their only recognized CBs are Pique (who is in **** form for a few years),Mascherano (who is way better in midfield than CB),Mathieu (old and who knows if he'll be any good) and the rest are youth prospects.

Vermaelen will get his chance. Barcelona have no clear starting CB partnership unlike us so Enrique will try a few different combinations to see which one works.

Good luck Verm, but this means a top quality CB has just become an absolute necessity.

To be honest, selling TV and getting a top quality replacement was the third most important thing for me, after a striker and a DMF. So it's nearly one of the three ticked off my wishlist. Sanchez softens the blow of not getting a striker ... so get DMF in and I suppose we're good. If we're still pulling put hair out over Giroud by January, we'll need to see who's available. I'd settle for that plan of action.

Best of luck to him, reckong he'll do well at Barca. Great move for him tbf considering he doesn't start here and has been injury plagued.

Also, cannot believe we bought him 5 years ago - time ******* flies.

Surely Arsène must replace TV5...

"Wenger said should Vermaelen leave, the club will find a replacement because the Belgian is "an important player in our squad".

Officially confirmed:
Vermaelen agrees to join Barcelona

Thomas Vermaelen has agreed to join Barcelona in a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

Belgium international Vermaelen, 28, who joined Arsenal from Ajax in June 2009, made a total of 150 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, during which time he scored 15 goals.

Vermaelen had been club captain for the past two seasons and was no stranger to the captain’s armband, having previously held the role with Ajax, where he spent nine years after joining from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot. Vermaelen has also skippered the Belgium national team and has now made 47 appearances for his country.

Vermaelen passed his medical in Barcelona on Saturday. His transfer is subject to the completion of the normal regulatory process.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Thomas for his contribution during his time at the club and wish him well for the future.

Good luck to Thomas. He has remained professional throughout his five years here, and I'm sure both parties are happy - he gets a chance to establish himself again, and we get a great fee. I fully expect that a replacement for Vermaelen will follow.

And good luck at your new team. I genuinly hope he does really well at Barca ;)

Arsenal Quotes

I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes an art.
When you read some books they are fantastic, the writer touches something in you that you know you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life.
If you are living like an animal, what is the point of living? What makes daily life interesting is that we try to transform it to something that is close to art. And football is like that.
